Kitten's wobbly tooth after injury: Vet says teeth grow back. Advice?

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 8 days old | 10 lbs

Hello please help. My kitten came to me with blood in its mouth 2 teeths broke. I helped stop the bleeding. But one tooth is still wiggling. I went to see what happened and say the bookshelf fell and he must have been under it. He walks ok and doesn't limp I have taken him to a vet he says it's normal the teeth will grow back. He is the only vet around for now can you guys give me advice on what to do with the wiggly tooth. And how to heal him is possible. Thank you

As long as the vet checked him and reassured you that he is overall fine, that is the most important thing, although i am not sure why he would tell you that the tooth will grow back, unless he is younger that what you wrote in his profile (1 year and 4 months), permanent teeth grow approximately at the age of 3-6 months, after that whatever falls does not grow back. regarding the wiggling tooth, this is the same issue basically, if he is under 6 months and it is a baby tooth then it will probably fall soon, if it doesn't bother him you can wait until it falls, if he is painful- ask your vet to have it removed under sedation.

It will not grow back. He should not have any pain unless the nerve is exposed and I cannot tell you if that is the case without examining him. Cats only use the canine teeth for grabbing and fighting, not for eating so he should have no problem at all eating. It was just an accident and it has nothing to do with his teeth not being strong. This is actually a frequent injury we see in cats. I would not be overly worried about it unless the tooth starts to change color (purple or black) and if you notice that you should have your vet examine him.

No, teeth do not grow up if the permanent teeth fall out. The only time that happens is when the cat loses their baby teeth which are then replaced by their permanent teeth. That happens between four months to eight months of age. If you lose a permanent teeth, it's gone forever.

My 6-month-old kitten's baby teeth haven't fallen out. Is it normal?

Hi, what you are seeing is his adult teeth coming in and his baby teeth haven't fallen out yet. this does not cause pain and is not a medical issue unless he gets to be over 1.5 years and they have not fallen out. The retained baby teeth can get food stuck in them and cause dental disease. I would not worry about it until his is older. Good luck, I hope this helps!
