Why is my kitten's white fur pink after Advantage flea treatment?

I wouldn't have a concern about Advantage for felines, especially if Cheeto has had it before. Sometimes the feeling of the medication on their skin can feel weird, and we apply it in an area so that they can't easily groom it off, which could cause some anxiety. Keep an eye on Cheeto and if he isn't back to normal in a day or two, have him examined by your vet.

This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you de-flea Sushi regularly every month with a high quality spot on (ex. Advantage) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or cyclosporin in order to stop the allergy.

Yes, it is certainly possible that Suki has fleas. I recommend giving her Capstar as well. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas in 30 minutes, and it's safe to give with the Advantage II. You can pick up some Capstar at your vet's office to give her before Tuesday. Keep in mind as well you will need to disinfect the environment. Wash her bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. Sometimes cats can develop a flea allergy if they are heavily infested with fleas, and you would see continued hair loss and licking of the body. If you see those signs after flea treatment, have Suki seen by a vet. The vet can confirm if she does have a flea allergy and can treat her for it. I hope this helps!

some flea treatment just don't work on every cat/flea! I advice waiting at least 10 days and the use a completely different product. Spot ons are usually the best option (revolution/advantage/advocate) make sure it's an appropriate one for kittens and a different main ingredient in it to avoid toxicity. Going to the vet for this will be the best idea. Treatment should be given every month, especially after he start going out if he does. A spray for the house to kill the fleas is very important as well as fleas can survive in carpets for ages.

When there has been inflammation in the skin (like what happens secondary to a flea bite) the skin will sometimes change color as it heals. That area looks like it is starting to regrow hair and that the original inflammation is subsiding so I wouldn't be concerned. It is recommended to use at least 4 months of consistent flea prevention to fully eradicate fleas or all year round if Lynx is an outdoor cat. A high quality flea preventative like Frontline plus, Revolution or Advantage should be used.

This is probably due to a severe allergy, although it could also be fleas or mites.
