Kitten walking on wrists, not paws. Is it serious? What to do?

Great question! The only way to tell is by having an x-ray done by your veterinarian - this will show exactly what is wrong with the bone, and will also give the information needed to determine whether it can be fixed or not. I would recommend taking the kitten to your vet for an exam and x-rays as soon as you are able to - he/she will be able to advise you further on what can be done to help the kitten, depending on what the x-rays show.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I strongly recommend taking the kitten to the vet. She may have an injury to that leg, or to her back. She may require x-rays if a fracture is suspected. in the meantime keep her confined to a small area such as a dog crate - room enough for sleeping, food, water and litter box but no running or playing. Do not give her any pain medications as many are toxic to cats.

Poor Gracie! She could have fallen and broken her leg. She also could strained or torn a ligament. It's quite serious that she isn't walking on it and won't let you touch it. I would take her into a vet immediately for a lameness exam and x-rays. These tests will help diagnose what is causing this problem so she can be treated. In young kittens, it's important to get these problems checked out promptly to prevent any disruption to normal growth. This will also be very painful to her, and the vet can give her pain medications. Please do not give her any human pain medications, many are toxic to cats and are fatal if given. Only the vet can prescribe safe ones. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. If your cat is suddenly very weak, disoriented and unable to walk normally it is best to seek veterinary care at your vet or an ER clinic immediately. It is possible there is an injury, neruologic or muscular issue, illness, or other underlying problem that should be seen ASAP especially if it is causing disorientation and weakness.

Hello, it looks like that kitten has undergone some form of trauma and should be seen by a veterinarian or the shelter as soon as possible. You can contact your local animal control officer to have them pick up the cat or take the cat to the veterinarian or a shelter yourself. Hi ! Your kitten needs to see a vet ASAP, to understand if there is a proble with her pelvis or with her back. The longer she is left, the less chance she has to recover sadly. He may have a congenital deformity or an injury from before you got him. X-rays would help your vet determine what is going on with his bones to make his walk seem wrong. But there may be nothing we can do to fix it. As long as he can eat, drink, and use the potty, he will be able to adapt to any situation! Just remember that if he has trouble walking he may not be able to get away from other pets, so he should never be let outside, and you may consider not getting any other dogs or cats while you have him.
