It could be due to a neurologic condition or perhaps an orthopedic condition causing some kind of pain or discomfort. I am so sorry about your kittens. Weakness and impaired movement are not classic signs for one specific disease process in kittens. Typically, we are concerned with infection, nutritional deficiencies and congenital abnormalities in neonates. The queen and kittens need to be evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible.

I would be most concerned either a neurologic issue, such as a slipped disc pushing on her spine, or a blood clot lodged in the blood supply for her rear end (called Feline Saddle Thrombosis). I would recommend taking her to a vet ASAP to further evaluation.

This is an emergency, as your cat could be suffering from a riding thrombus, which is a blood clot that keeps blood flowing from the aorta into the femoral arteries. This is a very painful and life threatening condition. She could also have been a victim of a traffic accident hurting her spinal cord. Please take her to a veterinarian or an emergency room right away. The vet will want to do radiographs and a blood test and your kitty will need treatment depending on the diagnosis today.

I’m thinking that Mellow may be anemic, or have a low red blood cell count. If this is the case then it could take awhile to improve depending on the cause. It’s also possible that there is a neurologic problem. I would recommend rechecking with your vet to see if there is more testing that they might recommend.
