My kitten vomited an acrylic nail, shaking and lethargic. What to do?

I recommend that you continue to monitor Whiskers closely for now. Have water available at all times to try to avoid dehydration. If no improvement is seen in the next 24 hours or he develops more vomiting and becomes more lethargic, have Whiskers evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment based on findings. Vomiting can be observed with gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, food sensitivity, foreign body ingestion and obstruction or other conditions such as pancreatitis or kidney disease. I am concerned that she is becoming dehydrated. I do not think this is because of the fish. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Vomiting can occur from many conditions such as foreign body ingestion and obstruction, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. Considering his age and the signs you described, I would be concerned and recommend an immediate check up. Differentials are many, from gastrointestinal diseases (infection/inflammations often dietary related) to any disease that can spread systemically (causing lethargy for example) like infection, and anything that can cause pain/discomfort. I would err on the side of caution and get them seen today if you can, tomorrow, especially if they don't seem better. The vomitus looks like a hairball to me, but it's hard to tell. They may have overeaten, but unless that's something they already do, given the opportunity, I don't see that being as likely as something else, possibly getting into something they shouldn't have. Your vet will do an exam, possibly bloodwork, and maybe more//other diagnostics depending on what they find. Based on these results, your vet will have a better idea of what's going on and be able to recommend a treatment plan if needed.

Kittens are susceptible to many different infections, both viral & bacterial. A heavy parasite burden from coccidia, or roundworms can also wear a kitten down & leave it weak. Pascal is too young & small to try & fight this off on his own. He needs to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. If you can not have him seen tonight or tomorrow, pick up some Nutrical from Petco tomorrow, & try to give him small amount frequently throughout the day. This is a high calorie supplement to hopefully keep his energy up. Then please try to have him seen by your veterinarian as early as possible on Monday. I hope he does better soon. I'm sorry to hear that Louie isn't feeling well! Profuse vomiting and a loss of appetite in a young cat are most suspicious for either a foreign body intestinal obstruction, parasites or virus. Due to the likelihood of dehydration with this much vomiting and possible obstruction, I recommend taking Louie to his vet fairly urgently for evaluation. He will likely need abdominal x-rays and may need IV fluids or surgery if foreign material is suspected in his intestines. I hope that all goes well!
