Why are my kittens sneezing, vomiting, not drinking, and hoarse?

Hi and thanks for your post on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is hard to say exactly without seeing the kittens first for an exam, but I can certainly offer some insights. If they have not been vaccinated, it may be something infectious such as pankleukopenia which is viral infection. Ingesting a toxin or a parasitic infection could also be possibilities. Vomiting all night for 6 week old kittens is a very serious concern as kittens that young are very susceptible to dehydration from the vomiting and that can sometimes be fatal if not treated. My best advice is to take the kittens into your veterinarian as soon as possible for treatment and so a diagnosis can be made. Best of luck to you and I hope for a swift recovery!

Hello, Many kittens can suffer from viral respiratory infections that progress to secondary bacterial infections with pneumonia. As they both are experiencing decreased activity, I'd recommend having your kittens both seen by a veterinarian. They can guide you best after a physical exam. I hope this is helpful. Vomiting can be observed with gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, food sensitivity, foreign body ingestion and obstruction or other conditions such as pancreatitis or kidney disease. I am concerned that she is becoming dehydrated. I do not think this is because of the fish. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics to be performed include abdominal imaging and general bloodwork. Treatment would be based on findings. Good luck and have a great day!

It may have been that the kittens were perfectly healthy the other day and now it sounds like the male is having symptoms of a upper respiratory viral infection with the sneezing. These viruses usually are self limiting and do not cause major illness. However, if he is not eating, continues to vomit, and/or is acting lethargic please have him rechecked as soon as you can.

Hi and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Vomiting several times a day for a week along with not eating or drinking much is certainly concerning. The sneezing could indicate a respiratory infection. There are lots of health reasons for her symptoms and Lilly really should see her veterinarian as soon as possible to have her evaluated and treated. Your veterinarian will do an exam and may recommend additional testing such as blood work or x-rays to pin down a cause so Lilly can get the treatment she needs and start to feel better.
