Why is my kitten throwing up, dehydrated, and not using the litter?

Vomiting can occur from many conditions such as foreign body ingestion and obstruction, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have them evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This will likely require bloodwork and abdominal imaging in terms of diagnostics. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least your veterinarian could start them on medications to make them feel better. I recommend that you continue to monitor Whiskers closely for now. Have water available at all times to try to avoid dehydration. If no improvement is seen in the next 24 hours or he develops more vomiting and becomes more lethargic, have Whiskers evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment based on findings. Hello. Thank you for rescuing this kitten. I would be most concerned about this kitten having an infection & most certainly having a large number of parasites it its gut. Roundworms are especially common in kittens & can cause significant discomfort & diarrhea. It would be best to have the kitten seen as soon as possible as she may need some medical treatment to get her going on the right track. Hello. I am a little concerned about your kitten because at 4 weeks of age she should be a little fireball & not require stimulation to move her bowels. She should also be eating a canned kitten food with a little replacement milk mixed in. If she has not been dewormed, this would be a priority as intestinal parasites like roundworms can make a kitten pretty weak. She may also be a little dehydrated if you have not seen her urinate. I am sorry Sock is not feeling well. This much vomiting is not normal. I would be concerned about a foreign body causing obstruction, infection or even possible coccidia. I would recommend taking Socks to the vet for additional testing like an x-ray of the abdomen and even possible blood work. the concern is dehydration and weight loss with the vomiting. If normal I would recommend an abdominal X-ray to rule out a foreign body. It may not be the food and there could be something serious. He should not be vomiting daily and I worry he could dehydrate.
