Why is my kitten unresponsive when I wake him? Should I see a vet?

He is also urinating and defecating normally, which is good. As long as Beau continues to eat, isn't having any vomiting or diarrhea or acting excessively lethargic, and is otherwise healthy, I would not be worried. I would keep a close eye on him for the next day or so to make sure he is doing well. I hope this is helpful!

This can be caused by weakness, fever, kidney disease, and other causes. It is a very vague sign that could be many many things. I am worried that Cube might be sick. Kittens normally are quite playful, so a kitten who just eats and sleeps without periods of high energy play and curiosity is not normal. Please take him to the vet for an exam. The vet will probably recommend some blood tests, and may also recommend a stool sample. It could be that he was born with some sort of internal defect such as a heart malformation that makes him not able to have periods of sustained play. Please have him seen by a vet ASAP. I would have her looked at by a veterinarian. My concern if she is just laying around, has seen eaten? If not then her glucose can be dropping. She may be dehydrated. It is something where a veterinarian needs to evaluate her. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

If she is eating /drinking normally, having normal eliminations, & playful during her wake periods, then what you describe may just be her personality. It is very difficult to say if this is her way of life, or if there may be something to worry about. If you are at all concerned, it is always best to have a hands on exam done by your veterinarian. That’s hard to say what’s going on with Blaze since he can’t talk and tell you how he feels. The fact that he growled at you could be significant for pain, exposure to drugs or extreme stress or anxiety. It does seem odd that he is just laying there with his eyes open. When pets behave abnormal, I always recommend to have them seen by the veterinarian to make sure that they are not in pain. I recommend to have Blaze seen by the veterinarian tonight ideally. The doctor will check his back, hips and bladder for any signs of pain. The doctor will also check his neurological reflexes for any abnormalities that could be related to drug exposure. The doctor may also recommend bloodwork to check his internal organs and make sure his kidneys are fine. I hope that it’s nothing serious and that he gets back to his regular self quickly.
