Why does my cat sleep so much and get uncomfortable when picked up?

This can be caused by weakness, fever, kidney disease, and other causes. It is a very vague sign that could be many many things. Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It sounds like Beau only seemed disinterested in one meal this morning, but has since had a good appetite. He is also urinating and defecating normally, which is good. As long as Beau continues to eat, isn't having any vomiting or diarrhea or acting excessively lethargic, and is otherwise healthy, I would not be worried. I would keep a close eye on him for the next day or so to make sure he is doing well. I hope this is helpful!

I am worried that Cube might be sick. Kittens normally are quite playful, so a kitten who just eats and sleeps without periods of high energy play and curiosity is not normal. Please take him to the vet for an exam. The vet will probably recommend some blood tests, and may also recommend a stool sample. It could be that he was born with some sort of internal defect such as a heart malformation that makes him not able to have periods of sustained play. Please have him seen by a vet ASAP. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! She looks like a rag doll cat. She is gorgeous! Cats do tend to sleep a lot and that does not signal anything concerning unless you see other symptoms such as vomiting, anorexia or diarrhea. Best of luck!

I would have her looked at by a veterinarian. My concern if she is just laying around, has seen eaten? If not then her glucose can be dropping. She may be dehydrated. It is something where a veterinarian needs to evaluate her. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

It may be that he is painful or not feeling well and that's leading to him reacting in this way. Ideally, take him to your vet for an exam. However, if he is eating/drinking/acting normally it is reasonable to just keep a close eye on him and take him in if other symptoms develop. Make sure that his litter box habits are normal. (he is urinating and defecating normally). Please do not give him any over the counter pain medications as there are none available that are safe for cats. Hello. It would be very difficult to say if this is just a normal change in behavior, or if something is amiss. If all he is doing is napping elsewhere, has normal food & water intake, normal litter box habits, then I would just continue to observe him for a few day more. See if something else may develop or concern you, then maybe have him examined by your vet. He may be trying to develop something, or he has just decided himself to nap elsewhere.
