My 4-month-old kitten has sudden runny, smelly diarrhea but is active.

Koko may have intestinal parasites still or colitis. She may have some food indiscretion or sensitivity. I suggest you take a fresh stool sample to your vet for a fecal exam. If she has parasites, she will need to be wormed/receive medication against the type of parasites present, again. sometimes worming has to be repeated. If she has a food indiscretion you will have to change her diet. Best to take her for a recheck to your veterinarian and discuss diet options with him.

Poor kitty. It is very possible Shunki has a bacterial or parasitic infection. THe first step here is to take her to your vet to get her stools tested. If she has a parasite or bacteria imbalance, it can get treated quickly through your vet in most cases. Until you can get her in to be seen, its best to offer her plenty of water to keep her hydrated and perhaps even mixing 50:50 non-flavored Pedialyte with water to replace her electrolyte losses. You should also give her a probiotic daily such as Fortiflora or even over the counter Culturelle works well. I do hope that Shunki's diarrhea issues resolve soon! Best of luck and take care.

I would recommend that you take Storm to see a veterinarian. Common causes of diarrhea in a kitten are intestinal parasites like worms, coccidia, or Giardia. You can take a fresh (<12 hours old) stool sample with you so they can test it - called an intestinal parasite screening. If it is not parasites, other causes of diarrhea can be poor nutrition, food allergy, bacterial or viral infection, among a few others.

She is cute! She could have an infection or a parasite. You could take a stool sample to your vet and have it tested for parasites. If she hasn't been dewormed then an intestinal parasite is a definite possibility and your vet can prescribe a dewormer. She might also need some fluids to prevent dehydration. You could also add a probiotic to her food and see if that helps. Hope she gets better soon!

Your kitten probably has colitis, which is an inflammation in the colon. This can be caused by stress, diet or changes in diet, and/or intestinal parasites. I would guess that Zia probably has all of these issues going on. It is not too early to take her to the vet. In fact, I would recommend it. Severe diarrhea can lead to dehydration which can be very serious in a little kitten. Your vet will need to check a fecal sample and may prescribe some antibiotics and probiotics and a dewormed for your kitten. I hope this helps. Best of luck. She's adorable! I would be a little more concerned that she might have intestinal parasites or another disease causing her diarrhea. I would recommend seeing a veterinarian if you have not taken her in already. They can check a stool sample and she may be old enough for vaccines at this point. If there does not seem to be a medical issue you could try seeing how she does on just wet or just dry food - kittens sometimes do better on one vs. the other.

Poor Jameson. This is pretty common in kittens for many different reasons. It could be stress related from moving to her new home. She also could have some intestinal parasites that is causing the diarrhea. You said you have not changed her food, so I"m assuming she is eating what she was on at the shelter. IF you have changed from that, this could also be causing diarrhea. I worry about her anus bulging. They strain when having diarrhea and this could lead to a rectal prolapse. I think she should see a veterinarian so they can test for intestinal parasites and hopefully get her started on some diarrhea medications and possibly a bland diet. They can also help with dehydration by giving her some fluids under her skin as these little guys can become dehydrated very quickly. Hope this little girl can get turned around soon.
