My new kitten has a small sore wound above her eye. What should I do?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 5 months and 13 days old

Hi, our brand new kitten has a small wound above her right eye. This has happened between 11am and 6pm today. There is no evidence of blood and she doesn't seem irritated but it does look sore.

Ouch! Poor Athrns. I would keep an eye on the wound and keep it clean and dry as well as use an Elizabethan (cone) collar to keep her from rubbing at it. If the area doesn't heal, worsens, swells up, or becomes hot or painful to the touch that can indicate an infection which should be seen by your vet.

    Hi, and thanks for your question.
    This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria).
    Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Be very careful to avoid any contact between the solutions and the eye. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any scratching (if any).
    If you do not see any improvement in 3-4 days a check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics are needed to solve the problem.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Freya. I recommend that she sees her veterinarian. The bleeding is worrisome and needs to be evaluated. She may require treatment. She could have an external wound or have actually sustained damage within the eye itself. In the meantime, do not allow her to paw as the eye as this can cause further trauma. My cat has an open wound near its eye. Is it serious? When to see a vet?
Tinkerbell's eye lid does appear to have some sort of tear or ulceration. This could be related to trauma or a viral infection. Tears on the eyelid should be care for quickly. I recommend to have Tinkerbell examined by his veterinarian within the next day. Make sure to protect the area from rubbing by having him wear an elizabethan collar at all times. My kitten has a bleeding, moist bald spot on neck. Should I worry?
It's good that the area has stopped bleeding. I would keep an eye on it for now. I would gently clean the wound with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and Nick will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. I hope this helps!

My cat has a small, non-healing wound near her eye. What is it?
This looks very sore and inflammed. It could be an infection or a tumor also. I recommend a veterinary exam, some cytology of the area to check for bacteria and abnormal cells. They then will probably give oral antibiotics and may recommend using a cone to prevent her rubbing this area which could slow down the healing. So it appears the third eyelid is showing, which means Oreo either has an eye infection or has injured her eye. Any eye problem is considered an emergency because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I would take her into your closest vet now. Best of luck.

My cat keeps scratching his eye injury. Should I take him to the vet?
It looks like poor Gryffin has been irritating the area by scratching at it. I would get a cone to prevent him from causing more damage until you can get an appointment with your veterinarian. I would keep the area clean and dry and try not to let him rub it.
