My kitten's eye bled after injury, but now seems fine. Should I worry?

Poor Angel! She needs to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as you can. Eye injuries should never be left to see how they progress. Vision can be lost very quickly without appropriate care. I am also concerned that Angel may have some other injuries that are not visible-the trauma needed to induce bleeding in the eye like she has could also result in significant head trauma and broken bones. Your vet will perform a thorough physical exam, including looking in Angel's eyes. There likely will be eye medications dispensed, and if your vet has concerns about head trauma they may recommend Angel stay at the hospital for monitoring or even special medications for brain swelling.

If the blood appears to be inside the eye itself, this is called hyphema - the most common cause is trauma, but it can also be caused by a severe eye infection, a bleeding disorder, or certain systemic illnesses such as lymphoma or FIP. If you think the blood may be trauma-related, I would recommend having her examined by a vet as soon as you can - eyes are very delicate, and many conditions can lead to vision loss or permanent damage if they are not treated promptly.

Ouch! My rule is if the eyes are closed then it is a painful eye, and a painful eye needs to be seen. If it already Looks better and it is open the you can apply a cool compress to a closed eye for 10 minutes or so to help with her comfort.

Poor Bella, she must have either ran into something or had the eye scratched by another pet or sharp surface.

It's difficult to know what this is without seeing it. This could be a bad case of conjunctivitis, an infection within the eye, or a problem with the skin surrounding the eye. Either way, this sounds very severe and it's important that Kitty be seen by a vet soon. If you can get her into carrier and take her to a vet, that would be best. Sometimes, you have to catch them in a trap (non-harmful) in order to get them to a vet. If you have trouble doing this, or are unable to take her to a vet, then I recommend calling the local shelter and asking for assistance.
