Why is my kitten rubbing, rolling, chirping, and raising its rear?

Hello. This is common behavior for a female cat that is in heat. Although 5-6 months is young, she is old enough to be starting her first heat cycle. You can have your veterinarian examine her to make sure and discuss spaying her if that is your wish.

It is quite likely she is in heat, especially if she is also calling or shouting loudly. If you do not want kittens, be sure to keep her indoors and isolated from any unneutered male cats until you can have her spayed

Unfortunately, it's hard to know if this is pathological or if she is in heat? I recommend to look up information on heat cycles and watch videos. Also record the behavior on video. If this is not a heat cycle or if you are unsure if it is, I recommend to have her examined and have the doctor watch the video. The vet will palpate her spine and may check her urine for infection to look for a medical cause. It is possible that Kaleo is going into heat. Cats can go into heat from six months of age, but it can occur sooner. Going into heat would cause this behavior. If you don't want her to have kittens, I recommend keeping her indoors at times unless her heat is over (usually one to two weeks), and I would then have her spayed after the heat passes to prevent this behavior in the future and to keep her from having kittens.

Hello. A cat that is going into heat, is going through her estrus cycle. This is in preparation for becoming pregnant. Female cats, in particular, will vocalize loudly & will sometimes demonstrate unusual behaviors such as rolling, paddling with the hind legs, lying with their back legs & tail high in the air, going into spaces & areas not normally utilized. All these are signals that a female cat is ready to mate with a male cat. Once Mittens has been fixed ( spayed ) this will stop.
