My kitten has a red bump near mouth after spider. What should I do?

I would recommend you continue the course. However, if this gets worse such as getting larger, I recommend you consider having it sampled to make sure he is not developing anything else. Yes a spider bite can cause a swelling. the swelling does not look very extensive so likely was not caused by one of the "nasty" spiders such as a black widow or a brown recluse. If your kitty, however, starts getting abdominal pain (rigid belly) or the swelling starts to change color, then a visit at the emergency room is the next step. If Maisey eats, drinks, lets you touch the swelling and otherwise does not act ill, then I think you have nothing to worry about and the swelling should go away within a day or so.

This is likely a small bug bite or an inflammatory reaction to some type of trauma (puncture, scratch, abrasion) to the skin. You can try cleaning it with a small amount of Betadine diluted 50:50with warm water, letting it air dry, and then applying a thin layer of Neosporin to the area twice a day to see if this can start to heal over the next few days.. Also an e-collar purchased from your local pet store can be placed on Simba to prevent her from scratching this area and causing more irritation as well as delaying the healing process. If this doesn't help then its best to see your vet to have this area investigated closely and in person. The vet may also want to shave the hair around it to get a better view and prescribe topical pet friendly antibiotics to help this heal. Hello. I would just watch this for now. I have removed several of these off of older cats, & they are most often benign & not dangerous. Removal is always curative. If it looks like it is enlarging, or it is interfering with his ability to eat or chew, definitely consider having it removed. Otherwise, just monitor for now. It could be an area swollen from her hitting her chin on something or it could be an infection / pimple (acne). If it does not resolve on its own, I would recommend having Mouse examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! Poor guy. The fact that he is so young, and the location of the bump, suggests that he may have unfortunately been bitten by an insect in this area. If he is not licking it excessively causing redness of the skin or seems bothered by it, I would leave it be for now and monitor it for the next few days to see if it starts to resolve on its own. If it seems irritating, then you can try applying a very small amount of Neosporin on the area and play with him for 15 mins to allow it time to absorb. Do not apply too much where he can lick it off and cause stomach upset. If it happens to not be improving after 4-7 days, then I would take him in to your vet to have him checked out so they can get a closer look at the area. Other possible causes is a foreign body with subsequent inflammation (granuloma) or an allergic skin reaction. This looks like a small, localized spot of infection, sometimes referred to as a hot spot. If the infection is contained to this one area you can try to treat it at home with some topical antibiotic ointment (like Neosporin). If this does not take care of the problem, or if there are other areas like this on her skin, I would recommend having her checked out by your vet so a systemic antibiotic can be given.
