Poor guy. The fact that he is so young, and the location of the bump, suggests that he may have unfortunately been bitten by an insect in this area. If he is not licking it excessively causing redness of the skin or seems bothered by it, I would leave it be for now and monitor it for the next few days to see if it starts to resolve on its own. If it seems irritating, then you can try applying a very small amount of Neosporin on the area and play with him for 15 mins to allow it time to absorb. Do not apply too much where he can lick it off and cause stomach upset.
If it happens to not be improving after 4-7 days, then I would take him in to your vet to have him checked out so they can get a closer look at the area. Other possible causes is a foreign body with subsequent inflammation (granuloma) or an allergic skin reaction.

It looks a little sore. It could be from her licking or she could be licking before of the sore. I don't think you need to rush him to the vet now, but I would try to keep them separated unless you are able to monitor them. If his rear end isn't improving or worsens then I definitely think he needs to see your vet to ensure he doesn't have an infection or something else going on back there. I hope this helps.

Hello! That bump looks a little swollen and red, and it could simply be a wound. I would clean the area with warm water and antiseptic soap, and keep an eye on it. If the swelling gets larger, Chiky starts having trouble passing feces, she starts scooting on her behind, licking the area a lot, and/or you see pus, then I would take her into the vet. In that case, I would be concerned that the wound may be infected, or it could be something else causing the swelling such as infected and impacted anal sacs or intestinal worms. Swelling of the anus/rectum could be due to constipation/hard stools, anal gland issues, allergies, irritation, or other problems. You would need to have the area looked at by your vet to determine what is going on and get the appropriate treatment. Be sure to let your vet known of any other issues you may have seen such as changes in appetite, energy levels, stool habits, etc. You can also use an Elizabethan (cone) collar to prevent your cat from licking/chewing at the affected area if it is bothersome until you can get to your vet.

My stray cat has pinkish-red bumps near its anus. What is it?

Hello, and thank you for your question. Reddish bumps on his anus could be a tumour, a polyp or wart, or a partial rectal prolapse. It is impossible to say for sure without seeing it directly, so I would recommend getting Simba seen by the vet within the next few days, or earlier if he seems in discomfort. They may be able to determine the cause just by observation alone, or may recommend a fine needle aspirate to pinpoint the nature of the mass. In the meantime, if he is licking or biting the bum area, I would suggest putting an e-collar (cone) on his head to prevent further trauma. White lump on kitten's anus: looks like litter but won't come off?

Hmm... from your photo, I can't tell for sure what this might be. You're right that it looks like a piece of litter, but it could also possibly be a piece of fecal material that is still inside the rectum. If Toby is acting normal, I would recommend waiting 24 hours (or until he poops again) to see if it's still there. It may pass on its own the next time he has a bowel movement. If it's still present by this time tomorrow, or if it begins to bleed or show any other signs of a problem, it would be best to have him checked by a vet - he/she can do a rectal exam to palpate the area and get a better idea of what may be going on.

My kitten is scratching a red bump on its chin. What should I do?

This is likely a small bug bite or an inflammatory reaction to some type of trauma (puncture, scratch, abrasion) to the skin. You can try cleaning it with a small amount of Betadine diluted 50:50with warm water, letting it air dry, and then applying a thin layer of Neosporin to the area twice a day to see if this can start to heal over the next few days.. Also an e-collar purchased from your local pet store can be placed on Simba to prevent her from scratching this area and causing more irritation as well as delaying the healing process. If this doesn't help then its best to see your vet to have this area investigated closely and in person. The vet may also want to shave the hair around it to get a better view and prescribe topical pet friendly antibiotics to help this heal. Poor little Chico! He could be suffering from intestinal worms, which are common in kittens and could cause the red and swollen bump. I would have him seen by a vet for this, and bring along a sample of his feces as well. The vet can examine his feces under a microscope of signs of worms, and can treat him accordingly. The vet can also let you know if he is a boy or girl. I hope this helps!

My cat has a hard, whitish lump near his anus. Is it an abscess?

Thank you for providing pictures of Butters's lump! If he had an accessed anal sac, the area right around his anus would be swollen and pain, and you would likely see blood in the feces, constipation, and/or painful defecation. From the picture, this looks like a growth, which could be benign or malignant. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of it's cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. I would have Butters seen by a vet tomorrow to diagnose what is causing the lump so it can be treated as needed.
