Why is my kitten pooping orange liquid with white spots on her bottom?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 6 lbs

My kitten has been pooping a lot more recently and they aren’t solid it’s more of a liquid and a bright orange color. Also she has white spots on her anal area. I’m not sure what they are but it’s on each side. I took a picture and included it below

I am sorry to hear about your kitten!!! Intestinal parasites are quite common in young kittens and you may not actually see the parasites in the stool. We can have worms as well as protozoal organisms like Coccidia and Giardia that can result in diarrhea. We can also have bacterial overgrowth in the GI tract cause loose stools, or dietary sensitivity. I would recommend brining Sally in to the vet for an exam as well as bringing a stool sample with you for the vet to test. In the meantime, you can pick up a probiotic such as Purina Fortiflora at your pet store, online, or at your vet's office to add to her food which can sometimes help with diarrhea as well (but only if the underlying cause is also treated). The white areas you are seeing appear to be the openings to the anal sacs, which could be irritated or inflammed, another reason to have the vet take a look at her! http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=625

Poor Venus! The most common cause of loose yellow or orange-colored stool in a kitten this age would be intestinal parasites. I would recommend first having her examined by a vet - he/she can take a fecal sample and check it under a microscope for parasites such as hookworms, roundworms, or coccidia. If any problems are found, they can also prescribe appropriate medication to treat the issue. In the meantime, you can try feeding her a bland diet of plain boiled chicken or chicken-flavored baby food to help settle her stomach until you are able to get her in to see the vet.

My kitten has liquid, discolored poop but is still active. Why?

Hi there and thanks for posting! Diarrhea or loose stools can be common in kittens with intestinal parasites. I would recommend running a fecal test at your veterinarian's office to rule out parasites as cause. Falcor may need to be on medication and may need a few more deworming treatments and a recheck fecal test to help treat him and be sure he is negative for parasites. Be sure to wash your hands well after touching his feces during little box clean up or if he has an accident on the floor. Why is my rescued kitten's diarrhea orange liquid and she won't eat?

I recommend to have Milly examined by the veterinarian and bring in a fresh stool sample to have her checked for parasites. Cats who have been outside a lot often have worms and protozoal parasites (some of which can spread to humans). Diet changes can also cause diarrhea. Lastly, kittens can be prone to bacterial over growth and any diarrhea lasting longer than 48 hours generally benefits from an antibiotic. You can try feeling Milly a bland diet. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. This should all be plain. A good diet in general is Royal Canin. It is low residue and highly digestible and you can transition her to this diet once she is feeling better. I hope Milly starts feeling better quickly! My kitten's bottom is gooey, bloody, and smells weird. What's wrong?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Fluffy! Fluffy is most likely having diarrhea. The mucous and blood indicated colon inflammation. Due to the blood and Fluffy being so small, I recommend you have her seen by a Vet today before the weekend. I recommend bringing a stool sample (if she passed actual feces). Possible causes are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, food allergy or intolerance. For a kitten so small I worry about dehydration and secondary infections. It is best to have her seen today. I hope this helps and I wish Fluffy a speedy recovery!

What to do if my new kitten has poop stuck and a red bottom?

Soak her bottom in some warm water to soften the stool, then gently wipe her clean. Offer a quality canned kitten food and mix in some unflavored PediaLyte to keep her hydrated. This will help ease defecation. Submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to diagnose intestinal parasites. Deworm Lily if indicated and repeat in 2 weeks. An exam should also be done since she is a "new" pet. Once she is deemed healthy, you can discuss an appropriate vaccination protocol with your vet.

My 4-month kitten has orange, mucousy diarrhea after food change?

It could be potentially related to diet, but, considering the persistence of the signs,these episodes may be related to parasite infestation or a bacterial infection. I would suggest a check up at your local veterinarian, a fecal sample may be helpful for your vet. If already treated for worms, antibiotics may be needed.

My 2-month-old kitten has liquid poop, eating less, but is playful.

Poor kitty. It is very possible Shunki has a bacterial or parasitic infection. THe first step here is to take her to your vet to get her stools tested. If she has a parasite or bacteria imbalance, it can get treated quickly through your vet in most cases. Until you can get her in to be seen, its best to offer her plenty of water to keep her hydrated and perhaps even mixing 50:50 non-flavored Pedialyte with water to replace her electrolyte losses. You should also give her a probiotic daily such as Fortiflora or even over the counter Culturelle works well. I do hope that Shunki's diarrhea issues resolve soon! Best of luck and take care.
