My 2-month-old Persian kitten isn't eating. What can I feed her?

She looks like a healthy little kitten, so I think she's probably OK and just being picky. If possible, I would contact the former caregiver and see what they were feeding. Sometimes they reject food that they are not familiar with. If you've done that already, or it is not possible, then try to feed a few different foods. She is old enough that she can eat 100% kitten food, so you can buy a few different cans of food at the pet store. Fancy feast is always a favorite. Don't feed too much at one time though, or she could develop vomiting/diarrhea. They also stop eating sometimes when they are feeling sick. If you notice some eye or nose discharge, or anything else concerning, then you may need to get her to a vet for evaluation. I hope that helps.

This is not unusual behavior. In the wild, cats eat 9-16 times in a day. Since she is not over weight, you can continue free feeding her. Make sure she is checked regularly for worms and watch for any signs of illness. I hope this helps.

Unfortunately there are many things that could be making Misti not eat. Just like humans, pets can pick up viruses, infections in the intestines, or something they shouldn’t have. Parasites, toxin ingestion or even an obstruction are all possible. Any pet who does not eat for 24 hours needs to be examined by the veterinarian. You should feed her kitten food, canned food if possible because it adds water to her diet since most cats don't drink a ton of water. This in turn helps promote good urinary and kidney health long term. You should get a high quality kitten food such as Fromm, Hills science diet, Royal Canin, Evo or Eukanuba. Luna is still a baby and cannot really eat enough dry food at this age. You will need to feed her canned kitten food. She may be less active from stress and weakness due to not eating enough. So try this, get some good quality canned kitten food, and feed her small amounts 3-4 times a day. Let her eat as much as she wants, as she is still growing. If she does not brighten up and still does not eat enough, she should be seen by a veterinarian for an exam.

You are feeding correctly, and grazing on food all day is normal and a good way to eat for a cat. I would have dry food out all of the time, and I would check the calorie content of the dry foods at the store and get Zoii the one higher in calories. You may also consider feeding some canned food daily. Some animals prefer to be on the thin side and they self regulate how much they eat so they stay thin and fit. In my experience once the cats mature and get to be adults they become less active and put on weight. Please make sure Zoii doesn't have intestinal parasites by bringing in a fecal sample to your veterinarian. If she's healthy and active with a shiny coat then I'm not concerned about her weight. It is ok to feed multiple small meals, however at this age he will likely need more food. You can let him eat as much as he likes at this age as he is still growing. at three months he should weigh around 1200g.
