Kittens stopped eating, have diarrhea. How to treat at home?

I have three 3 months old kittens 2 males and 1 female, they stopped eating 4 days ago and have diarrhea, they lost a lot of weight, but drink a little bit of water. My other cats are not sick. So I went to the local vet and he told me that they need injections which were pretty expensive, but I don't have the money and I'm looking up for a solution which will help me cure them at home. Can you help me please...

I'm sorry to hear the kittens are so sick. Unfortunately, there's not a lot you can do about a bacterial or viral infection at home. Things you can do would be to give them water with a syringe or eye dropper. Each kitten should get about 90ml of water in a 24 hour period. Make sure they are staying warm and clean. You could also give them Lysine which may not be hard to find, each kitten will get 250mg every 12 hours. I would also call the veterinarian back and ask if there is an oral antibiotic you could give the kittens as this is less expensive. Best of luck, I hope they get better soon.

They look like old lesion probably scars, but skin infection is possible as well. Unfortunately there is no much you can do for the bloody diarrhoea as ideally it would require some antibiotics to be resolved as it is likely to be due to an infective cause. If they eat solid food you can try to start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days.

If the signs do not resolve with the dietary change a check up at local veterinarians would be required.
Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths twice daily. Pay attention not to touch the eye with those solutions as it could be very irritant.

It sounds like she has an upper respiratory infection causing the congestion. Since she is breathing heavy and is so young, it would be a good idea to have a vet examine her to determine if treatment is needed. She may need an antibiotic to help treat. The diarrhea could be caused by a parasite and your vet could test a stool sample to determine the cause. There isn't really much you can do at home besides supportive care with food, water, and keeping her warm. You could also put a humidifier in a room with her or place her in the bathroom while you shower so the steam can help clear her nasal passages.

You will need to ensure the smaller one is not becoming dehydrated. Kittens their age can have vomiting and diarrhea secondary to intestinal parasites, stress from coming to a new home, or the diet change. The examination can ensure that is not anything more serious though. In the meantime, encourage them to drink plenty of water. You can offer a small amount of food in the morning. My week-old bottle-fed kitten has diarrhea. How can I fix it?

Make sure they are on a good quality milk replacer such as kmr. Changing it at all between different brands or switching from powder to liguid can cause diarrhea. Increase frequency of feedings to compensate for the diarrhea. And a probiotic such as bene back may help. If constant a vet visit for fluids may be recommended. If they didn't receive colostrum or milk from mom at all they are at higher risk from infections and may not survive despite best care. Sometimes the vet can help with injecting serum from a healthy cat to boost their immune system. My kitten has diarrhea, is sick, and hasn't eaten. Is it an emergency?

It's now a medical emergency that Bunty hasn't eaten in 18 hours. If she goes much longer without eating, she will develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. She is quite sick and cannot be treated at home. Please take her into a vet immediately. Best of luck.

I recommend having both kittens examined by a vet as soon as possible, as it is likely that the condition is contagious. To speed up the diagnosis, I recommend bringing a stool sample from the sick kitten in a disposable container for your vet to check for parasites. It is important to have the sick kitten evaluated as kittens can quickly become dehydrated and have low blood sugar, making them feel even worse. While it is unlikely that your son got sick from one of the kittens, it is possible. I recommend that you have him seen by a physician if you are concerned.

Why is my foster kitten vomiting pink liquid and having diarrhea?

Poor kitty. Vomiting and diarrhea in a such a young kitty can be caused by a bacterial or viral infection in most cases. If kitty gets into things it can also be causaed by a foreign body ingestion. I would highly recommend taking this fur ball to your local vet for a thorough check up and medications to stop the vomtiing and potentially antibiotics may be needed..
