My kitten's mouth is red and swollen. Is it food or bowl related?

This is a common look for cats who are allergic to their food bowls -- if any of his bowls are plastic, I'd recommend switching them out for glass and washing daily (or at least every other day). It could be caused by other allergies or a bug bite as well, and often goes away on it's own. If switching bowls (if applicable) and giving it a week doesn't make it go away, I'd recommend a vet visit.

I’m glad to hear the Binx is doing well aside from this redness. I agree - I don’t see any evidence of swelling or discrete lesions. That said, this type of redness is more likely either irritation from food and water bowls, or some underlying allergies, particularly given his young age. Plastic and ceramic bowls are fairly porous and can harbor bacteria. If you aren’t already doing so, try using stainless steel or glass bowls, taking care to wash them daily. If the redness persists, your next option is to take Binx to his vet for an exam. Your vet may need to prescribe some medication to help get this redness under control. Given the location, I wouldn’t recommend trying any topical medication, as I wouldn’t want Binx to ingest any of it. I hope that everything goes well!

That looks like it could be a contact allergy, possibly to plastic. If you use plastic bowls to feed or water her, I strongly recommend changing them out for glass, ceramic or stainless steel. See how she does over a couple of weeks. If there is no improvement, gets worse or recurs, then have her seen by your vet so the underlying cause can be determined and treated.

This looks like an allergy, especially because it healed with a steroid injection. I would not recommend continuing steroid injections are they can predispose her to health problems. I would switch her to stainless steel bowls and consider a dermatology appointment to work up the skin disease.

Possible causes are: allergies, trauma from excessive grooming (rodent ulcer), allergic reaction, or from licking a caustic toxic substance. Without seeing a picture or examining Sage it is hard to tell you much more. Since cats can not tolerate human medications it is best to have Sage examined by a Vet today so she can be treated. It could be an allergic reaction or result of trauma (for example if Otto bumped into something). Allergic reactions could be tn anything Otto is in frequent contact with. Allergic swelling on the chin could be caused by an allergy to food bowls, floors, chemicals that you use to clean floors and carpets. If the chin is not swollen, not painful and not bothering Otto at all, I would leave it for 1-2 days. You could give him half of a tablet of human Piriton to help the swelling to go down. However, if the chin is bothering Otto or if he is trying to scratch it, you should take him to your local vet for a check-up

Yes that could be commonly due either to an allergic reaction or to a localized infection (usually bacterial). I would recommend a check up and some medications to resolve those little sores (steroids and antibiotics). Buster collar would be useful to avoid scratching (if any).
