My foster kitten is sick, and milk comes out its nose. What can I do?

Hello. I am a bit concerned about this kitten possibly having a ringworm or other fungal infection. This is something you should let your veterinarian take a look at. The nasal congestion could be an upper respiratory infection that may have come on from the stress of the surgery. We do not always put these kitties on medication, especially if they are acting normal & eating well. But do try to have the pictured kitten seen soon. If she is having upper respiratory signs associated with the inhalation of the water and the milk such as changes in breathing, difficulty swallowing, nasal discharge, weakness, loss of appetite or other changes, please take her into see her veterinarian soon as she may have developed pneumonia from aspirating the liquids. She may need a chest x-ray to confirm this and may need to be on antibiotics for a while. If she appears normal otherwise, just keep an eye on herald take her in if any of the above signs are witnessed.

This kitten may have an upper respiratory tract infection, pneumonia, or a congenital birth defect affecting its mouth/palate area. If you have access to a veterinarian it'd be best to examine this kitten and consider testing for infectious diseases that are very contagious to other cats.

Saline nose drops can actually be helpful along with humidified air to clear the nose. This kitten probably has an upper respiratory infection and may need antibiotics for the eye and nasal discharge. The kitten might also be dehydrated and could have other problems like intestinal parasites. Since young kittens can become hypoglycemic very quickly when they are not eating I would recommend seeing a veterinarian as soon as possible to help get this kitten on track. They can give you an estimated age and discuss how to properly bottle feed and can also treat dehydration and upper respiratory infections. Good luck!

It sounds like the kitten may have an upper respiratory infection. Often in young cats these are associated with viruses. I would take him to a vet asap in case his lungs are involved. Often treatment involves anti-inflammatory drugs as there is no bacterial involvement. Your vet will be able to advise more in this following an examination.
