My 5-month-old kitten is lethargic and peeing a lot. Is he sick?

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. With your history and knowing he is drinking and urinating quite a bit, I would be concerned about kidney disease or diabetes. I would recommend having a comprehensive blood panel run on pepper to rule these conditions out. I would also have his urine tested as part of a full workup. Hi there and thanks for your post on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Oh, I am sorry to hear about Oreo- sounds like he is not feeling well at all. It is hard to say exactly what is going on with Oreo without examining him first. If he hasn't moved from one location in a few days, this is very concerning and tells me Oreo may be very ill. There can be many causes for Oreo's symptoms. Drinking a lot of water lately is a sign of diabetes mellitus or kidney disease. If he has only urinated a couple times in the last 3 days, he could have a urinary plug or blockage. In any case, Oreo should be taken to his nearest emergency veterinary clinic ASAP to determine the cause of his illness so he can get better soon. There is really nothing you can at home to help- taking him to a veterinarian is the best thing for him. I hope this helps and best of luck to you and Oreo. I hope he fells better soon.

Depending on his exam findings, he will likely need bloodwork and fecal testing to determine the cause of his symptoms. Infectious diseases are common in young kittens. I would recommend having Oscar examined by a veterinarian right away. Male cats can develop urethral blockages that only allow them to urinate small amounts (or not at all). This can become life-threatening if not treated right away. Woori sounds very sick. Being cold to the touch is a very serious sign. I hate to hear that your kitten is so sick. There are many things that will cause him to be sick: viral infections, parasites, toxins, damaged organs, intestinal blockage and infections. I am very concerned about the signs you are describing. Pale gums are also very serious. The urine issues may indicate kidney damage or parasites within the kidneys. Woori needs to see the veterinarian today. The doctor will preform a thorough physical exam and hopefully start figuring out what is the underlying cause of his illness and if he can be treated. Loss of appetite and lethargy can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. Defecating outside of the litter box is usually a medical issue and can be linked to everything else going on. I recommend that you have Merlin evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam.
