Do kittens imprint on humans, especially if rescued and bottle-fed?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 3 months and 24 days old | 8 lbs

Is it possible for a kitten to imprint on a human? I have some fosters that I picked up while responding to an abandonment call. They were only days old. I bottle fed them, nursed them to health, and loved them even when they had terrible URIS and would sneeze and poop everywhere. They seem especially bonded to me now that they have grown up. They all follow me everywhere I go. Is it possible that they imprinted on me? Or is that only in birds?

Yes and no. They bonded with you since you were their care giver but as the grow up they will be more independent and not stick with you as much. They will have no problems adjusting to a new person or home
