How can I ensure my kitten has a healthy body and strong growth?

Kittens do the majority of their growth in the first five to six months of life but continue to grow until they are around one year old. During this time of rapid growth and maturation of their bones, it is very important to choose a complete and balanced diet with the appropriate levels of nutrients. Diets formulated for growth include those labeled for kittens or “all life stages.” Canned foods promote increased water consumption in cats, and feeding dry food exclusively or in combination with canned is also acceptable. Offering a kitten with a variety of textures early in life can be helpful in minimizing the chance of having a picky eater. Regardless of diet selection, always make diet changes gradually by mixing the old and new foods together over five to seven days and make sure to carefully measure the appropriate portions of your cat’s food. Abrupt changes have a greater likelihood of resulting in vomiting and/or diarrhea.

Purina, Science Diet & Royal Canin are the better companies. Make sure that Meena has been & continues to be dewormed on a regular schedule, & make sure she receives the proper vaccinations at the proper points in her life. She does not need anything fancy or special, nor to you want to supplement her food with any additional vitamins or additives, unless your veterinarian recommends something. Hi there. I would recommend feeding her a high quality kitten food until she is 9 months old. You can feed her canned food and dry food. There are several great brands of kitten food available, I like Royal Canin kitten food, Natural Balance and Wellness. I hope that helps. I'm so glad we were able to help you with Goldie. Whiskas is ok, but I prefer Royal Canin. I'd feed her Royal Canin kitten food. She doesn't need the chikan, tuna, or rice. Make sure she is up to date on her deworming treatments, as that can lead her to not gain weight. Feline core vaccines include FVRCP (feline distemper combo) and a Rabies vaccine. If she is an outdoor cat, the FeLV vaccine (feline leukemia) should be considered. I hope this helps!

She does seme a bit undeweight, if that is what you are asking. You should be feeding her 3 times a day, around 1/4-1/2 cup each feeding. Also have her stool checked for parasites. Intestinal worms can cause malnutrition in cats because they are taking all her nutrients that she ingests. There are general dewormers available at your local pet store, but getting her stool tested first is ideal. She is at the age where she needs to starts vaccinations anyway, so a vet visit for a general health check is the next best step towards her care. You should feed her kitten food, canned food if possible because it adds water to her diet since most cats don't drink a ton of water. This in turn helps promote good urinary and kidney health long term. You should get a high quality kitten food such as Fromm, Hills science diet, Royal Canin, Evo or Eukanuba. You should be feeding her 3 times a day, and the amount should be based on what the bag or can says as a guideline. Best of luck with your kitty and I hope that she does well at her first vet visit. Kittens should have their first set of vaccines between 6-8 weeks of age, so I would schedule an appointment as soon as possible. They can be dewormed as young as two weeks of age, so I would definitely go ahead and do this as well. I would recommend feeding a good quality kitten food such as Hills Science Diet or Royal Canin - these foods are complete and balanced, and contain all the nutrition needed for a growing kitten.
