My rescue kitten is skinny and not growing. What food and vaccines?

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The best you can do for Meena is to feed her the best quality kitten food you can afford. Purina, Science Diet & Royal Canin are the better companies. Make sure that Meena has been & continues to be dewormed on a regular schedule, & make sure she receives the proper vaccinations at the proper points in her life. She does not need anything fancy or special, nor to you want to supplement her food with any additional vitamins or additives, unless your veterinarian recommends something. All kittens have worms. You should get a kitten wormer and worm your kitten every two weeks until it is 3 months old (ie now, and again in 2 weeks). Then every three months. He will likely start gaining weight then. He should also be vaccinated now against feline rhinotracheitis (cat flu), Panleukopenia now.

I would recommend that you have the kitten examined by a vet if she isn't interested in eating food. You can try a variety of wet kitten foods, or mix dry kitten food with water or kitten milk replacer (not cow or other types of milk). At 6 weeks of age, she needs an FVRCP vaccine.

I would just stick with the kitten food and wet food, Muezza does not need the chicken and mutton. You will need to see a vet to diagnose the cause of her hair falling out, which could be due to fleas, mites, allergies, or ringworm. Once the vet diagnoses the cause, they can prescribe the needed medication for her. She will also need a deworming treatment, and the vet can give her vaccines. Feline core vaccines include FVRCP (feline distemper combo) and a Rabies vaccine. If she is an outdoor cat, the FeLV vaccine (feline leukemia) should be considered. I hope this helps.

I would recommend feeding her a kitten formulated food, as she needs more calories, protein, and calcium that adult cats, and a kitten formulated food will provide that. Make sure she receives her vaccines, put her on monthly heartworm prevention, monthly flea treatment, and deworming treatments.

Your cat needs to be fed a complete commercial cat food. He will not gain any weight from cat milk. He may also need to be wormed. I recommend you take him to a veterinarian for a wellness exam to make sure he is not ill. Offer him some canned cat food. I guarantee he will love it.

Hi and thanks for your request. When it comes down to food, I usually suggest to try with a high quality commercial diet based on main brands as Hill's or Royal Canin. The reason is because these can provide a complete and balance nutritional support and there would not be any supplement to be given. If she likes Core (which is a good quality brand) then I would recommend to continue as you are doing as it seems she gained weight on this.
