My kitten's eye is red and watery after an insect. What should I do?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 month and 22 days old

Yesterday morning I realized there was a black insect on my kittens eyes, I quickly took it off but afterwards I realized the area around her eyes had turned red and it’s been watery up till now. She’s become so calm and quiet and barely steps out of her body only when it’s time for food. Please what I can I do about it. Thanks

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration or corneal ulcer due to trauma from having this insect. I highly recommend that you have Euvoia evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Further therapy would be based on the findings. Good luck and best wishes!
