My cat's eye bled after bush, now open. Does she need a vet visit?

Pet's info: Cat | Siamese | Female | spayed

My cat was outside and ran into a bush and now the corner of her is red with a little blood and then the other side has a small bit of blood. For the first few minutes her eye was partially closed, but now she has it open and is acting fine. Should she go to a vet or just check it in the morning and see?

Ouch! My rule is if the eyes are closed then it is a painful eye, and a painful eye needs to be seen. If it already
Looks better and it is open the you can apply a cool compress to a closed eye for 10 minutes or so to help with her comfort.

Hi there! thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to heat about what happened to Mittens. I think it would be most appropriate to have Mittens evaluated by your veterinarian. And the reason for this is to rule out a corneal laceration or trauma that may require further therapy. These types of lesions heal better when dealt with on a timely fashion. If you are unable to take her to your veterinarian, you may continue to monitor her for further signs that could indicate a corneal laceration for example such as excessive blinking, blood and/or greenish/yellowish discharge. If noted, for sure have her evaluated at that point. Good luck! Crossing my fingers for a speedy recovery!

My 7-week-old kitten fell. What to do about blood in her eye?

Poor Angel! She needs to be seen by a veterinarian as soon as you can. Eye injuries should never be left to see how they progress. Vision can be lost very quickly without appropriate care. I am also concerned that Angel may have some other injuries that are not visible-the trauma needed to induce bleeding in the eye like she has could also result in significant head trauma and broken bones. Your vet will perform a thorough physical exam, including looking in Angel's eyes. There likely will be eye medications dispensed, and if your vet has concerns about head trauma they may recommend Angel stay at the hospital for monitoring or even special medications for brain swelling.

Hi and thanks for posting! If you've tried managing at home but it has not gotten better, I would recommend Willow be seen by her veterinarian. It could be a puncture wound, scratch, or a draining tract from an infected or abscessed tooth root. It may also be secondary to an actual eye infection. Your veterinarian will do an eye exam and evaluate her lesion, mouth, and teeth to help determine what the cause may be. Willow may need to go home with antibiotics and other medications as needed. I would continue to monitor Victoria for other wounds or possible internal injuries. 5 stories is quite a fall! And it may take a few days for other injuries to manifest. If she will let you, you can flush her eyes with a human eye saline solution. Maybe she got some dirt in her eyes. As soon as the vet is open, I would have her examined further. Do not put any medications in her eyes at this time.
