My kitten drank cow milk by accident. Do I need to do anything?

There is generally no significant problems associated with drinking some bad milk, as long as it was just for a short time. As long as she’s feeling fine and eating and drinking she should be fine. Please get her back on cat food and water only and this loose stool should resolve without treatment. When cats have bowel irritation they can pass small amounts of blood. If she’s not eating well, not drinking or the diarrhea lasts more than a day then please take her in for an exam and treatment. Cows milk is not good to give to kittens because cats are lactose intolerant and it causes GI upset. Feed Tom a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the diarrhea continues on the bland diet, he starts vomiting food, stops drinking water, starts vomiting Best of luck.

Feel free to ask as many questions as you want, that's what we are here for :-) This milk is absolutely fine to give to Okoye. It's lactose free, and it's lactose that cats are intolerant to and cannot have due to the GI side effects. It's ok for her to drink this. I hope this helps!

First of all you need to stop the cow milk, i recommend switching her to ready made kitten dry food. It sounds as she is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

Most likely she will have several bouts of diarrhea and perhaps some vomiting. The butter will create a sort of slip-n-slide and cause loss of fluid so it is important to give her small amounts of Pedialyte (if diarrhea or vomiting do occur) to prevent dehydration. Also a bland diet of tuna and rice can be given to help her stomach settle. She should slowly improve over the next few days as the butter exits her system.

KMR is a much better balanced food source for kittens than either cow's milk or a homemade milk recipe. Follow the instructions on the packaging as to how much to feed per day, divide the feedings up into several per day. You can use a warm wet washcloth to gently massage the rectal and urinary openings to stimulate bowel and urinary movements.
