Young kittens will get distended bellies after eating but Sokar looks to have a very distended abdomen. This can indicate worms. I recommend to have him checked and treated for parasites. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

It could be Wizzy had intestinal worms, those can be common in kittens. It will cause a swollen belly and can have negative effects on their growth. You will need to take him into the vet to confirm he does have intestinal worms, and the vet can prescribe a deworming treatment. His fur looks ok. Please take him into a vet today.

It could be this kitten has a heavy intestinal worm burden, which would cause a distended stomach. Without seeing Pippin in person, however, I can't say for certain. I would take him into the vet today or tomorrow to get checked out. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Kittens often seem to have bloated bellies. Sometimes it is just their immature anatomy, sometimes it is internal parasites, especially roundworms. If she is eating a wet kitten food, she is probably getting a fair amount of liquid every day. You usually will not see such a young kitten drinking water consistently. It would be a good idea to take the kitten to your veterinarian for a fecal analysis & proper health check. They will determine what, if any worms the kitten has, & administer the proper medication. Take care.

Is it normal for young kittens to have soft, sagging bellies?

It is difficult for me to say without seeing them. My best guess is that they have this appearance due to intestinal parasites (worms). You should speak to your vet about getting a product to deworm them. Best wishes.

Why is my kitten's belly big? Is it worms or something serious?

Hi and thanks for your posting. Kittens are frequently born with roundworms they get through their mother's during pregnancy and through nursing. A pot belly appearance can indicate an intestinal worm infection. The good news is deworming Meena is not complicated and requires just a few rounds of deworming solution you can obtain from your veterinarian. A fecal test is run before and after treatment to confirm Meena has cleared the infection. During the course of deworming treatment, you may see worms passed in the stool. Ivy's stomach looks pretty normal in your pictures. If she plays less than usual, eats less than usual, urinates or defecates less than usual, or otherwise seems sick, I would recommend taking her to the vet.

Why does my kitten's belly look big when he sits or I pick him up?

Thanks for visiting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. As your kitty grows, his belly will naturally look a little bigger each day. Cats often have a fat pad around their belly, which when palpated fells like fat that isn't actually in their belly, but on the outside skin area. If Storm's belly is actually big, then intestinal parasites are often the cause at this age; however you will almost always see loose or soft stool associated with this. A fecal exam and appropriate dewormer is the answer to this issue if the case. Based on your photo however, everything seems to look normal for Storm, so its best to palpate his belly or have your vet feel his belly to determine if additional testing and treatment are needed. Why is my kitten's belly bloated and firm despite worm treatment?

A bloated belly in a kitten is usually suspicious of a high worm problem, but there are other possibilities. If she has a thin layer of muscle in her belly, then this can cause it to appear bloated. It can also happen with liver, spleen and other organ enlargement; and also if their is excessive fluid in the abdominal cavity. Considering there are many possibilities, it's best to have Astrid evaluated by a veterinarian. They may suggest an x-ray, or ultrasound to find the cause of this. Hello. Just about all kittens will have roundworms & this can definitely contribute to a pot-bellied appearance. You should be able to find a kitten wormer with pyrantel pamoate at any pet store.
