Adopted kitten has diarrhea, swollen eyes & congestion. What to do?

The diarrhea could be perhaps due to parasites. I highly recommend that you have your kitty evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment which may include eye drops and anti-diarrhea medications. Jack's eyes and stool most likely are not related although can be. He may have an upper respiratory infection, conjunctivitis (inflammation in the conjunctiva of the eyes which may be infection vs allergic), Jack can have a corneal ulcer (less likely if it is both eyes that are affected) or even allergies (which are less likely due to age). With all of his symptoms, including a runny nose and sneezing it seems more like an upper respiratory infection. It is a good sign that he is still full of energy. With his stool, it can be stress or intestinal parasites. It can also be that he got into something he wasn't supposed to or even a virus. When you go to the veterinarian I would recommend bringing a stool sample so the veterinarian can make sure there are no intestinal parasites. They may dispense eye medication and medication to help with the diarrhea. Depending on the cause they find it just may be antibiotics for the diarrhea or it may be a dewormer. This is usually treated with antibiotic eye drops and oral antibiotics and cats usually respond well to therapy. I recommend that you have Deimos evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. If they agree that based on an examination, that seems to be the issue, they will likely prescribe medications to make him feel better. Aw poor Socks! It's pretty common to have a rescue kitten develop upper respiratory infections. I'm glad to hear he's acting normally otherwise. You can try to run a hot shower and steam up the bathroom while Socks is in the room. Sometimes this will help break up congestion. Make sure he continues to eat and drink normally. Warming some canned food up will often encourage a cat to eat more as they will eat more if they can smell the food. If Socks continues to be congested or at any point he stops eating, develops an eye issue, or becomes lethargic he should be examined by a veterinarian. It's best not to wait too long as kittens can develop pneumonia or labored breathing if the respiratory infection progresses. You can take the kitten to a local vet at your holiday location. He will be able to give it a long term antibiotic injection if indicated and worm it. THis kitten likely has inteestinal parasites and an upper respiratory infection. Thank you for worrying about this kitty.

Poor Jameson. This is pretty common in kittens for many different reasons. It could be stress related from moving to her new home. She also could have some intestinal parasites that is causing the diarrhea. You said you have not changed her food, so I"m assuming she is eating what she was on at the shelter. IF you have changed from that, this could also be causing diarrhea. I worry about her anus bulging. They strain when having diarrhea and this could lead to a rectal prolapse. I think she should see a veterinarian so they can test for intestinal parasites and hopefully get her started on some diarrhea medications and possibly a bland diet. They can also help with dehydration by giving her some fluids under her skin as these little guys can become dehydrated very quickly. Hope this little girl can get turned around soon.

The anal issues are probably from the diarrhea which can be diet related, parasites or an infection.
