Found a sick kitten on holiday with diarrhea and eye issues. Help?

The anal issues are probably from the diarrhea which can be diet related, parasites or an infection. It is not uncommon for kittens to get respiratory infections and have ocular discharge and often sneezing to go with it. It will take some time and medicine to help out. Poor Boi! It sounds like he may have a few things going on, including a possible upper respiratory infection and possibly some internal parasites causing his diarrhea. Both of these are very common in cats adopted from shelter or rescue situations, and stress/change can certainly make it worse. If both eyes are affected to the point of swelling shut and he's very congested/feverish, it is best to seek veterinary care for a full exam and for any antibiotics as needed- plus you can bring in a sample of his stool to check for parasites and have those treated at the same time. Until you can get into the vet, using a warm wet washcloth to remove any discharge and debris from the nose and eyes and keeping him eating and drinking can help some.

The diarrhea could be perhaps due to parasites. A dewormer would be beneficial if the diarrhea is caused by worms, however if they also have eye discharge or third eyelids showing I would be concerned about other issues ongoing such as a respiratory infection or illness. The kittens, if they are about 2-3 months old, are also of the age where they should be getting their first set of vaccines, exams, etc. It would be best to bring them into your vet for a complete checkup, checking the stool to figure out the cause of the diarrhea, look at the eyes, and get started on a health and vaccination plan.

This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. Diarrhea could be due to something like parasites for instance which is treated with medications or it may be transient. She likely has a viral infection that is causing all the discharge. You can use a warm wet washcloth the help her stay clean, and a round of prescription antibiotics and eye ointment may be needed. Her large belly is probably due to intestinal parasites, though there are a few congenital causes that may be at play. I will warn you, that sometimes these kittens will lose an eye from the infection, and will likely have chronic infections over their lives.
