My kitten has diarrhea after eating egg yolk. Is it why she's licking?

Hello, & thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I would stop the egg white & just stay with the KMR. In another week, start introducing some canned kitten food mixed with the KMR to wean the kitten from the milk. I would also deworm the kitten now with pyrantal pamoate using 1 ml per 10 pounds of body weight ( Kitti will probably only need 0.1-0.3 mls ). Have a sample of the kittens stool examined by your veterinarian to check for other parasites, like coccidia. Hope she is doing well soon. Take care.

Just like you or I, licking a bit of raw egg could be harmless (just like eating a bit of raw batter), however you can always be unlucky and get a nasty food poisoning. So, likely your kitty will be fine, and I would recommend just monitoring for now. If your cat starts vomiting, is sore, weak, having diarrhea, then it might be gastritis or food poisoning from the egg, which would require some medications and a vet visit to fix up. Just monitor for now though, as likely it will be fine. Best of luck!

Diarrhea in kittens can be due to a variety of reasons, including intestinal parasites, dietary indiscretion, food intolerance, a virus or another underlying issue. I would recommend Oreo be evaluated by a veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for her diarrhea, have any necessary testing done (fecal analysis, etc) and start any treatment (dewormer, antidiarrheal, probiotic) that she may need to help resolve it. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I think that dietary indiscretion as you pointed out could certainly be a possible reason for Eddie to having diarrhea. You can try to switch to a sensitive stomach type diet like the Science Diet healthy development diet for kitties. If no improvement is noted then I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment as other things are possible like intestinal parasites. Good luck!

Poor Lilli! The diarrhea could be due to many conditions including a viral infection, bacterial over growth, parasites or other even organ disease. I recommend to have her examined by the veterinarian. With severe diarrhea, there are often bacterial shifts in the gut that will make matters worse regardless of the initial cause. Make sure to bring in a sample of fresh stool. The doctor will check her for parasites and bacterial over growth. Additionally, the veterinarian can provide medications for symptomatic treatment. Many times a bland diet can help and then a slow, gradual introduction to the regular food can be done. A good diet in general is Royal Canin. It is low residue and highly digestible. Yes, that could be the problem for sure. If that is the case though, the diarrhea should be self-limiting meaning that it will go away on it's own without treatment. If it does not go away, then you should get them to your vet for an exam. Despite what people believe, giving yogurt (or any dairy products) to cats is not recommended. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Withhold food for so long in such a small kitten is not recommended. Diarrhea is a signs referring to a intestinal problem. It could be due to parasitic infestation (very common in kittens) dietary indiscretion, inflammatory disease, bacterial diseases or viral diseases. You could provide bland food (boiled breast chicken or white fish or gastrointestinal commercial diet) for a 24-36 but, if she continues to have diarrhea, might get dehydrated and therefore need to be checked by a veterinarian. Also if you can spot blood in the faces or if she get lethargic and not eating, or if she start vomiting, I would suggest to have her checked by your veterinarian as soon as possible.
