My kitten has diarrhea and can't hold it after deworming. Help!

Poor kitty. Sudden food changes can certainly cause a pet to have loose stool. Since you have dewormed then you can try giving Milo a bland diet of boiled plain chicken, tuna, or ground turkey and white rice to ease the stomach. Withhold food for so long in such a small kitten is not recommended. Diarrhea is a signs referring to a intestinal problem. It could be due to parasitic infestation (very common in kittens) dietary indiscretion, inflammatory disease, bacterial diseases or viral diseases. You could provide bland food (boiled breast chicken or white fish or gastrointestinal commercial diet) for a 24-36 but, if she continues to have diarrhea, might get dehydrated and therefore need to be checked by a veterinarian. Also if you can spot blood in the faces or if she get lethargic and not eating, or if she start vomiting, I would suggest to have her checked by your veterinarian as soon as possible.

Hi there and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. There are many causes to diarrhea with a red perhaps inflamed anus. Parasites could be the cause or a bacterial or viral infection. I would take your kitten to your veterinarian soon for a fecal test where they will test his stool for parasites and bacteria and/or certain viruses that could be causing the diarrhea. They may Rx a medication to your kitten depending on what the veterinarian discovers on the fecal test. Best of luck! I hope this has helped.

Deworming treatments as well as vaccines can cause diarrhea as a side effect. I wouldn't be concerned about Rae just yet, and I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps. It is concerning that Lola has diarrhea, and it could be that it is intestinal worms causing the continuing problems. She could have tapeworms, and those require praziquantel to kill. If the deworming medication she got didn't have it, that could explain the issues with her stool. I'd have her checked out by a vet in the morning. I hope this helps.
