My kitten has bloody diarrhea, licks butt. Should I be concerned?

She may have have something like coccidia or Giardia causing this issue, and those can take a while to treat. I'd take her back to the vet in the morning. Best of luck.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Fluffy! Fluffy is most likely having diarrhea. The mucous and blood indicated colon inflammation. Due to the blood and Fluffy being so small, I recommend you have her seen by a Vet today before the weekend. I recommend bringing a stool sample (if she passed actual feces). Possible causes are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, food allergy or intolerance. For a kitten so small I worry about dehydration and secondary infections. It sounds as Jasper is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

If he wasn't weaned and is now eating a kitten food, that could be causing the bloody diarrhea. I agree, it does look like his anus is protruding a bit. Given that he's eating and drinking and otherwise acting normally, it's fine to wait until the morning to wait to take him into a vet. He should see one first thing in the morning to get treated. Tonight, keep feeding him and giving him water, and keep him warm and comfortable. I hope this helps!

In the meantime, you can purchase wormer for kittens at Petco. The package will have very good directions on how to use the wormer. Take care.

I'm quite concerned that she has diarrhea with bright red blood in it and is very lethargic. Based on this, I think she should see a vet now. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies.
