My kitten was bitten, not eating, breathing heavily. What should I do?

Poor Mochko. With symptoms of decreased appetite and "hard breathe" which I assume means she is having a hard time breathing, it is possible Mochka has pneumonia or an upper respiratory infection. I would highly recommend getting her seen by your vet again or another vet for a second opinion. They need to listen to her chest (auscultation) to check the lungs for certain sounds. If certain sounds in the chest are detected and Mochko also has a fever (greater than 102.5 degrees F rectal temp), then pneumonia is suspected. Chest x-rays would then be needed to confirm. If the chest is free of any abnormal sounds on expiration, then an upper respiratory infection is suspected, which is a better prognosis for kitty. At that time a short course of antibiotics and anti-viral meds (i.e. Lysine) can be prescribed to treat her condition. At any rate Mochko needs to be re-evaluated and the underlying condition properly identified so that we know exactly what she needs to get better.

It is not normal for a cat to open mouth breathe, and it can be a sign of respiratory distress. Because Pooter was bit by another animal, he could have been infected by a disease from that animal. Given the open mouth breathing, it is best that he is seen by a vet, as it's not possible to recommend a treatment without knowing the cause of the symptoms. I would definitely take her to the vet as soon as possible. If she is breathing heavily then this could be a medical emergency. Your vet will be able to listen to her and possible do X-rays. They will be able to provide oxygen if needed. I hope this helps!

The symptom you are describing are very concerning and Titan might be in great danger. He needs immediate vet attention. While you are traveling to the vet keep him warm (wrap him in a blanket). Any animal, particularly this young and presumably not fully vaccinated, with respiratory signs, should be seen my a veterinarian. If your Kitkat appears to be in true respiratory distress, this should be considered and emergency and should be seen right away. Signs of true respiratory distress in a cat would be open mouth breathing, pale white to blue mucous membranes (open mouth and look at gums), fainting episodes, or resting respiration of more than 30-40.

Oh my. Poor kitty. Because of the pus and infection, this kitty will need to be seen by your vet to get kitty on prescription antibiotics. I would recommend taking this kitty in to the vet asap. I would worry that Charlie has an upper respiratory infection. Viral disease is most common, and a secondary bacterial infection could occur as well. I’d recommend having Charlie examined by your veterinarian. If you think he is having enough difficulty breathing that he is in distress you should see an emergency veterinarian.
