Kitten bite wound raw from licking. What can I put on it to heal fast?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If the wound is not healing, I would have a vet look at it closely. There could be a foreign object inside the wound. If there isn’t a foreign object, they should check Mort for diseases that could slow healing, like leukemia or feline immunodeficiency virus. I would also recommend an antibiotic since the wound has been there a while. An e-collar won’t rub that area and Mort may need one until it heals. Good luck and kisses to Mort!

These look like bite wound abscesses that have blown out. More than likely Bella got in a fight with another cat. The wounds festered & abscessed out. You can clean them with a little peroxide, but she really needs to be on antibiotics. We do not always close these wounds with sutures, because they are usually pretty contaminated, but if severe enough, they may need to be. You can try placing an Elizabethean collar on her ( Cone of shame ) to keep her from licking the wounds. She is doing her best to help her wounds, but her sand paper tongue does not help with healing. You can find the collars at your nearest Petco. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Lilly! Is the wound right by his penis? If so that is a very hard location to bandage without covering his penis. The skin around the wound is very swollen and red. i am concerned about an abscess or a warble/cuterebra, which is a fly larvae under the skin. I recommend that you take him to the Vet Monday to have the area evaluated and to start antibiotics. Otherwise he needs an E-collar or cone to prevent licking. Good luck!

You need to clean it twice a day with antiseptic solution. 4% chlorhexidine would work best, you should be able to buy it at pharmacies or online. Also, make sure that that your Kettey is not scratching that area and that the other cats are not licking the wound. It should go away after a few days, but if not, she will need to be put on a course of antibiotics.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Stormy! I would shave the fur away from the wound then clean it well with water and a mild soap (avoid hydrogen peroxide). Then apply triple antibiotic ointment twice daily. The most important thing is to have Stormy wear and E-collar to prevent licking and keep him indoors. He should see a Vet as soon as possible to at a minimum get antibiotics but to also see if surgery is required to close the wound. I would call your local SPCA to see if they offer a low cost Veterinary clinic. I hope this helps and I wish Stormy a speedy recovery!

It is hard to know exactly what is needed without an examination though this does sound severe enough that it warrants an evaluation by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check if further surgery is needed or possibly treat for a likely infection and most importantly start Selina on medications for pain as this is likely painful. You should clean the wounds with warm, boiled water twice a day until they scab up. If Biscuit becomes lethargic, off food or you notice that the wounds are hot to touch, painful or swollen, you will need to take her to your local vets.
