How much Hill's Perfect Weight wet food for my 18lb cat's diet?

Hello. The Hill's recommendation for a small dog around 20 pounds is to feed 400-600 grams per day, depending on activity level. So at the very least, I would double the wet food to 4 tablespoons or more twice a day. Remember, wet food has significantly more water, so you do need to feed more per day. Hi and thanks for posting! For Easel who is a spayed adult cat, she'll need about 220-250 calories a day to maintain her current weight and between 180-200 if she needs to lose weight. Every food can and product bag contain the calories per cup or calories per can on the label which you can use to adjust her cups per day accordingly. I hope this helps!

Check the labels on your cat foods and see if it gives you a calorie count. Most good pet foods will have that information. Calculate how many calories are in 1/3 of the dry food and compare that amount to the canned food to get an idea of the right amount to feed him to maintain his weight. If you aren't fond of math (like me!) a less precise method is to simply keep an eye on his weight and adjust the amount you feed accordingly. When you run your hands over his body, if the ribs can be felt with light pressure then he's a good weight. If you have to really feel around to tell where his ribs are, he could lose a little weight, and if the bones are felt with no pressure at all, he should get fed a little more.

Bananas is such a cute name! That food is labeled for over weight cats, she can eat it but you may see that she loses weight. You can counter that by feeding her separately a normal cat food at least 2-3x daily. You may also look for a food labeled for multiple cat households as it tends to be a moderate calorie diet. Every cat food will usually have its own recommendation for feeding guidelines based on the ingredients and nutrient density of the individual food. I frequently recommend Fancy Feast, which comes in small cans of around 3oz. 1 can twice a day is plenty for an inside-only cat. I would be glad to help you! The food is 524 calories per cup. To get 330 calories a day, you should feed him just under 2/3 of a cup daily. Divide this 2/3 cup into two equal portions to feed him once in the morning and once in the evening. I hope this helps!

Thank you for submitting your question! Most indoor cats tend to be a bit over weight as a result of plenty of food and little exercise. First off, encourage plenty of play time. You can feed them on elevated surfaces so they have to jump up to get a meal. You can also hide kibble around the house (out of their pre-measured daily amount) to engage them in their natural hunting behavior. This is mentally stimulating for them and encourages more exercise. Science Diet is a high quality food and would be a good choice for them. I do not typically recommend grain free formulas as they are high in carbohydrates and result in weight gain. Measure the food daily for each cat and feed them separately (several small meals throughout the day). This way you will how much each cat is receiving. Lastly, feed them less than recommended for their weight bracket since they are both overweight. Good luck!
