I found a stray cat with a sick kitten. How can I help them?

That is so lovely of you to want to help the mother and her kittens! I would definitely catch them as soon as possible, and bring them to a vet. The vet can do a health check on all of them, and can do blood tests and a urinalysis on the mother to check on her organ fuctions and to see if she has any diseases. Then the vet can schedule a spay for when the kittens are weaned, and vaccines as well. The vet can give you an idea of how old the kittens are, and can give you tips on how to help them wean. The first step is to catch them, however, and I would do that as soon as you can. So great of you to help them!

I'd take her into the vet for a check. She might have intestinal worms causing her to be really skinny, and the sneezing can indicate a respiratory infection. She needs to be checked out thoroughly by a vet so her medical issues can be diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.

This is very unfortunate, I'm sorry to hear your momma cat has lost her kittens. I would suspect that there was something affecting the mother that infected the kittens in utero. There is probably not much you can do to save the 2 remaining kittens at this point. You may want to consider taking them to the vet to be checked out and see if it is something treatable. At home just continue doing your best by supplementing their feedings if necessary, stimulating them to potty if the momma is not, and keep them warm and dry. I hope this helps. Liberty is quite sick and needs a mediate attention at either your regular veterinarian or an emergency veterinarian. Because she is only eight weeks old, I worry that her weakness and difficulty to breathe will cause her to pass away unless we get her started on some IV fluids and Oxygen therapy. If a veterinary visit cannot be done at the present time then the only thing that you can do is administer small bits of Karo syrup orally as well as put a fan in front of her nose to possibly help with keeping her cool. But again, I feel that a veterinary visit as soon as possible will be the only way to save her life.

What cute kitties. I agree that upper respiratory infections caused by either calicivirus or herpesvirus is usually the culprit when dealing with stray kitties. I am. It sure what bone you are referring to without seeing it in person, but I would have to guess that this is probably just their floating rib that is prominent because they are likely underweight. The fleas and upper respiratory infection should be a relatively easy fix through your vet with proper flea prevention, antibiotics and an anti-viral (i.e. Lysine powder or gel). Oh no, this poor kitty! She really does need to see a vet first thing in the morning. Keep her indoors and warm, offering her food and water. Have your parents take her into a vet immediately in the morning.

That doesn't look good. It looks like a hernia (possibly a section of intestines or the omentum) that has come out of the body and is now dried out. The other option is a dried umbilical stump. You really should try to get the kitten to a vet for an exam. It is difficult for me to say what you can do if I'm not sure what is going on. If you try some home treatment and that is a piece of intestines hanging out then you could certainly make it worse. I hope this helps. Best of luck.
