Are generic Cerenia and compounded prednisolone effective for pets?

I have never used it as a transdermal gel. Since it isn't commonly compounded in that way, I would think it doesn't work very well. You could ask your vet or call your compounding pharmacy to ask this question of a pharmacist, who should be able to give you a better answer!

A lot of times this is the case with her condition. If the diet is to be fed exclusively, then flavoring a medication would not be recommended as it can increase intestinal inflammation in some cases. I hope this information helps!

Hello. Both the Cerenia & Doxycycline can be crushed & mixed with just about any food or liquid you like. The Doxycycline will be very bitter tasting if just mixed with water, so you might try hiding it in any type of food except dairy. Avoid any milk or cheese with this antibiotic. Meclazine is commonly used as an antinausea drug but essentially it is an antihistamine. The exact mechanisms of action for its antiemetic and anti-motion-sickness effects are not completely understood. Cerenia is a very effective aniemitic that works in multiple ways.

These drugs, if given at appropriate dosages, should not interact. I guess cerenia was given for vomiting, so meloxicam is not indicated though. Why did you ketoconazole? It is not indicated in pancreatitis cases.

Hello, and thanks for your question. These are very similar medications, but prednisolone is best for cats, as they are better at digesting that than prednisone. Prednisone isn't harmful, but prednisolone is better in cats. Hope this helps!
