Found a cat in my house, it's not eating and seems sick. What to do?

I would recommend keeping a very close eye on your cat for the next 12 to 24 hours. When cats are free to roam outside they are more prone to getting in fights and ingesting something toxic. If she does not eat this evening or tomorrow morning and she is still acting lethargic and I would recommend taking her in to your vet to be checked out.

There could be lots of things that cause this to happen in a cat, and many times it means they are severely ill. It could be caused by kidney failure, cancer, infection, severe dehydration, etc. If you want to try to help this cat back to health, I would recommend having him evaluated by the vet.

I don't think I can help very much. I can't really tell what is wrong with the skin. Thin, weak, poor appetite, those are things that more likely indicate internal illness. In a stray, unvaccinated cat, FeLV or FIV would be on the top of my list. There is no cure for these viruses. We also can't prescribe medications, even OTC, as it is illegal.

OMG, this kitty is very ill, it is not possible to say what she is suffering from without a hands-on exam. I suggest you offer her food and water, put her in a box with a towel and take her to a veterinarian ASAP. I'd take her into the vet for a check. She might have intestinal worms causing her to be really skinny, and the sneezing can indicate a respiratory infection. She needs to be checked out thoroughly by a vet so her medical issues can be diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.

I am sorry your cat is not feeling well. Unfortunately with a stray cat many things are possible to cause depression and anorexia. I would be concerned about toxins, parasites, foreign material ingestion and even infection/virus. I would recommend taking the cat to your local vet. They most likely need to do some basic testing like blood work to determine the cause of illness and provide proper treatment. At home care most likely will not be aggressive enough for the cat. Ideally if you could keep the cat in a smaller area with close proximity to food and water that way you can monitor the eating closer. I hope that helps and he feels better soon
