Why is my cat lethargic after coming inside, not eating or peeing?

Poor Milson! Lethargy could be caused by systemic illness, infection, inflammation, or injury. It could also be due to something that he ate outside. Given that he is still eating, I would keep an eye on him for the next 24 hours and if he's still lethargic after this time, then I would have him seen by a vet for a health check.

It's hard to know exactly what could be going on. She may have gotten hypothermic, she may have had a seizure, she may have been feeling bad before going outside and been looking for somewhere quiet. Regardless, since she's vomited a few times and has been lethargic for 10 hours, I would consider taking her to an emergency room for evaluation tonight. Oh no poor Blu! I'm so glad you got him home. It is possible that he was injured on his adventure, and he could be suffering from internal injures causing him to not move much, eat, or drink. I would have him seen by a vet immediately, he needs a physical exam, blood tests, urinalysis, and x-rays. If any injuries are found, the vet can discuss treatment options with you.

However, it would be best to have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to examine him to see if he appears to be painful for example which could be a reason to become lethargic and less interactive. He could also be somewhat traumatized by that encounter which he could potentially eventually get over. However, I still think that he should be evaluated. Good luck and have a good night! If she is still eating and drinking then you could probably wait until tomorrow to get her in to see your regular vet. However, if she will not eat or drink, is not urinating or starts vomiting, you will need to take her in right away. I would not recommend waiting until Friday to have her seen.

These symptoms are definitely of concern and most likely a sign of illness and not depression. It is not any fault of yours, but he does need to see a veterinarian to determine the cause of his illness. They may recommend running bloodwork to check for signs of systemic illness such as kidney disease or infection, and may want to test his for Feline Leukemia and Feline Aids since he was an outdoor cat before he came to you.
