My FIV cat is sick, not eating, and breathing heavy. What's wrong?

Poor blue, it does sound like his immune system may be quite weak and blood tests for felv, fiv and fip would be worthwhile to fully assess what is going on. I also recommend a high quality kitten food to try and rebuild his strength and antibiotics may be required if he develops a fever

I agree, those symptoms are concerning for intestinal, oral, or kidney disease. Unless the test was falsely positive, cats don't outgrow FIV. There is also no cure for the virus, though not all cats that have it will develop disease. I would recommend that Tiger get checked out by the vet. After a thorough physical exam and review of his symptoms, the vet may recommend bloodwork, urinalysis, or x-rays to see what is going on. This sounds a lot like your kitty has problems with his teeth or possibly severe gingivitis or ulcers in his mouth. If he lets you have a look, inspect his mouth for red spots, a red gum line and severe tartar, especially on the molars or any swelling. He will likely need a dental cleaning under anesthesia, if he has not had one in the last year or two. Cats get so called FORL, that is the neck of the tooth often rots underneath the gum and eventually starts hurting. Typical signs would be red gums and some swelling and not letting you have a look at his mouth. Affected cats often want to eat, go to the food, eat a little and then stop only to return later for more but few bites. Please make an appointment with your vet for an exam very soon. In the meantime feed canned food which will be less painful to eat.

Oh dear, poor Atticus! It is difficult to determine if his significant weight loss is due to his respiratory condition or FIV. If these bacteria are present and causing problems, then yes, he should be treated for them. Anemia can be caused by chronic disease processes that decrease red blood cell production, blood loss, or destruction of the red blood cells. I'm glad to hear that his lymphocyte count is normal. Without examining Atticus and evaluating all of his test results, I can't help to determine his prognosis and if his condition can improve. I hope that all goes well for Atticus.

It's hard to know what it could be, it could be hairballs or general nausea due to various complications of the disease. it's very hard for me to give you any specific advise regarding what to do in this case as i do not know for sure what is causing the symptom. if he starts vomiting then it would be more serious and you would have to take him to the vet for a blood test.

Poor Chico! Lethargy and anorexia can occur with a very wide array of conditions, including FIV, feline leukemia, FIP, pancreatitis, gastrointestinal viruses, etc. When cats stop eating, there is a chance that they can develop hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease) as well as becoming dehydrated. Chico sounds quite sick and should be examined by his vet immediately so that any necessary diagnostics and treatments can be started.

Hello. I am so sorry that poor Blackie is not feeling well. I am not sure what a mood booster is, we have nothing like this in the US, but your veterinarians should be doing blood work to check her feline leukemia & feline AIDS status, a complete blood count with blood smear to look for red cell parasites, serum chemistry & urinalysis. We do have appetite stimulants that may help, but Blackie should possibly be on antibiotics & a syringable food to at least get some calories into her.
