My ferrets still have fleas. Can I use Advantage II after Revolution?

I have two ferrets who are over 2 years 1.5 and 2 pounds who got a full flea treatment or revolution 12 days ago and the fleas are back pretty heavy. Can I split a dose of advantage II between them safely or will that be too much?

Revolution is used monthly, so it would not be recommended to apply a dose of Advantage II. Splitting a dose would not be recommended without the advice of your veterinarian to prevent overdose.
To resolve a flea infestation, you need to treat the environment for fleas as well as all pets in the house. All pets should be treated monthly for at least 3 consecutive months to break the flea life cycle. Begin treating the environment by vacuuming everywhere then disposing of the bag or emptying the canister outdoors immediately after. Wash all bedding in the hottest water allowable by fabric and dry in the dryer. Use an area treatment afterwards to prevent reinfestation.

My rabbit has fleas after Revolution. When can I use Advantage?

Thanks for reaching out. You should wait at least two weeks. Even though they are different chemicals with different modes of action but unsure if any cross-reaction. Try a flea comb to remove additional fleas. All animals in the house and the house need to be treated in hopes of effectively riding of fleas. Good luck.

Is it safe to use Revolution 2 weeks after Advantage II on my cat?

Why are live fleas still on my cat after Revolution treatment?

If you have a flea infestation in your house or yard it will be harder for the Revolution to be fully effective. Make sure you vacuum regularly, and treat the other pets in the household as well as the yard if that is practical. I use a flea comb dipped in soapy water to catch the fleas on Dexter. You’ll find that the fleas are slower than normal because they are dying. If you are consistent with your flea control in the house, other pets, and yard and use Revolution monthly as directed the fleas should all be gone in several weeks. My kitten still has fleas after Revolution. What should I do next?

Revolution does not repel fleas. The fleas still have to get on Sage in order for the medicine to work. The fleas could have been new and not had time to fully die from the revolution yet. 80% of a flea problem is environmental. It is best to drop him off at the vet for the day while you treat your house and yard to full get rid of the problem.

Is it safe to use Revolution and K9 Advantix together on my dog?

Hi yes you can use both treatments on Daphne but i suggest separating the application by two weeks. You can also consider using a product like Proheart6 - an injectable heartworm prevention given at the vet hospital that lasts for 6mths. I find that revolution works well for fleas, but doesn't cover all types of ticks. Hope this helps!

Great question! Because 15 days have passed, it's fine to give Roman the Advantage II. I would also give him Capstar. It's a one time pill that is safe to give now and will start killing fleas in 30 minutes. Remember as well you need to disinfect the environment, as the environment can be a continuing source of fleas. Wash his bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces.
