My diabetic cat is unresponsive and lethargic. Is it an emergency?

Take him to the emergency vet right now. This is serious hypoglycemia and it could kill him. He may be in remission and may not need any more insulin. However this needs to be checked by a veterinarian. But for now it is very important that he be seen at the ER.

Please try to bring her appointment forward to get her rechecked and her blood sugar levels controlled more effectively if possible. It may be necessary to change her insulin type but she should also be checked for infections/inflammation etc which may be altering her ability to regulate her condition

Unfortunately this is a really tough disease to treat, even with veterinary care. Your cat would likely need to be on fluids and then start getting regulated on insulin to get his diabetes under control. Until his dehydration and blood sugar is under control he will probably still be lethargic and anorexic. I am sorry you're having to go through this with your cat. Simba could have blood pressure or blood sugar issue and I think giving him corn syrup was a good start. That said, Simba could be suffering from balance issues. One condition that could explain what is going on is called vestibular syndrome. You veterinarian could confirm it by doing a full physical exam or discovery what else could be going on.
