My diabetic cat is lethargic and won't eat. Should I give insulin?

If she is alert and more stable on her feet then I would not give any more supplements unless signs indicate that. Be sure to take her a glucose check before administering any more insulin though. I would recommend trying to feed her several small meals every 3-4 hours though to help maintain a higher blood glucose

Please try to bring her appointment forward to get her rechecked and her blood sugar levels controlled more effectively if possible. It may be necessary to change her insulin type but she should also be checked for infections/inflammation etc which may be altering her ability to regulate her condition

Hello. I am concerned that a possible problem has occurred by the use of medication in his ear. Also, a cat on Lantus needs to eat. This is a situation where you should see your vet as soon as you can. L-lysine was thought to lessen the effects of some herpes related upper respiratory infections, but it has turned out not to be very effective. There is nothing about L-lysine that will be of benefit for Handsome at this time. You do need to see if there is some other underlying condition affecting him, & you do need to check his blood glucose in case his Lantus dose needs to be adjusted. I hope he is feeling better soon. I would wait about 12 hours after his last dose of insulin. I would also make sure he eats something before giving the insulin at that time. If you are not going to be up at the 12 hour mark I would recommend holding off the insulin until tomorrow. If you give the insulin now you risk his glucose going to low even if he just ate.
