Diabetic cat pulling hair, peeing more. Is her diabetes uncontrolled?

Hello. If she is still drinking and peeing and having glucose in her pee then the diabetes isn't under control. Chat with your vet about checking for infections (urinalysis is recommended) as well as Cushing's disease. If these are present the diabetes won't become controlled. Hair loss is associated woth Cushings as well. Good luck with her!

Diabetes could be an issue with your cat, especially if she has lost weight recently. Other diseases to consider include hyperthyroidism, renal failure, and cancer, all which could cause the symptoms you are describing. This is probably due to an allergy, although it could also be infection or mites or it could be stress related. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment (advocate or advantage), then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). If allergy is not identified this behaviour could be purely stress related. Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair the skin lesions (steroids and antibiotics). Poor Little Sarge. It could be she has a medical condition like hyperthyroidism causing the hair loss as well as the increase in drinking and weight loss, or she could be suffering from something like a skin infection causing the hair loss, and a medical condition like diabetes causing the weight loss and increased thirst. I would take her into the vet for blood work or a urinalysis. The vet can diagnose what is causing her symptoms, and can teat her. I hope this helps!

You need to have Bean seen by a vet for these issues, and I recommend getting blood work and a urinalysis done. I'd take him into a vet today.
