Cat vomiting, thirsty, hair loss, tired. Is it diabetes or something else?

I would be concerned about either diabetes or hyperthyroidism in Fuu. The symptoms you described can be seen with both of these diseases that usually affect older cats. I would recommend taking Fuu in to your vet to have some blood work performed. This simple test can distinguish between these two diseases. If she has diabetes she will need insulin injections daily and hyperthyroidism can be easily treated with a daily medication as well. Good luck!

It could be she has a medical condition like hyperthyroidism causing the hair loss as well as the increase in drinking and weight loss, or she could be suffering from something like a skin infection causing the hair loss, and a medical condition like diabetes causing the weight loss and increased thirst. I would take her into the vet for blood work or a urinalysis. The vet can diagnose what is causing her symptoms, and can teat her. I hope this helps!

However there are many other reasons for increased thirst in a cat, including kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, or urinary tract infection. I recommend taking her to the veterinarian where she can have bloodwork to determine if she is diabetic or not. There is a common condition in cats known as hyperthyroidism. It frequently causes increased vocalizations. Drinking an excess of water in a cat is almost always diabetes especially with the concurrent hair/skin signs you are seeing. Usually that is due to a failure to groom themselves as they normally would. Of course, some other common differentials would be kidney disease and thryoid disease. I suggest you get Morgan to your vet for an exam and some blood testing. Those diseases are easily diagnosed with some simple blood testing. Hope this helps. Best wishes to you and Morgan!

Losing weight, vomiting and diarrhea in an older cat can be concerning. The sound you may be hearing when she eats is grinding of her teeth which cats can do when they are nauseous or have stomach issues. Possible causes for her symptoms are: kidney failure, liver problems, an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism), diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, cancer or possibly but less likely an obstruction (ate something that is stuck). Most of the above can be easily diagnosed on blood work. Your Vet may want to take an X-ray of her belly as well. I hope this helps and I wish Honey Bee the best!

Yes, I think that you should have Ember checked out by a vet. While diabetes is not terribly common in cats of her age, it is still possible. Other possible causes of increased thirst include kidney disease, UTI, or behavioral change. Diabetes and kidney disease can easily be screened for with routine bloodwork and urinalysis.
