My pet took Zantac and is tired. Is this a side effect or overdose?

This is a rather big overdose, but this drug is relatively safe to overdose. Signs of an overdose can be vomiting and muscle tremors. If you don't see any of these after eight hours, then she will be fine. If you do see vomiting and tremors, then it's best to take her to the vet for treatment and monitoring. It's most likely that she will be OK. Just check on her every so often and make sure she has plenty of water available. I hope that helps and Abby gets better soon.

She should be fine but you may notice some side-effects. The most common adverse effects of zyrtec are sedation, lethargy, vomiting, drooling (hypersalivation), and lack of appetite. If the side effects last more than 8 hours you should have her examined b your vet. I do not recommend you give her any more for at least another 24 hours.

Hello. Atopica does not typically have a side effect of lethargy. Overdoses or adverse reactions can result in lethargy, so if she continues to be letthargic I would have her checked. Your vet may need to check her white blood cell levels or her liver values. I hope she feels better soon!

You may see some increased drowsiness with this dose, but this is low enough where I would not expect any true toxicity concerns. Hi, I see you've posted again...you have confirmed that this is a massive overdose of meloxicam for a dog that size and it would definitely cause her to be lethargic. Overdoses are most concerning for causing stomach and/or intestinal ulcers/bleeding. It can also cause significant damage to the kidneys. For these reasons, I recommend you take Polly to the vet immediately. There are medications and treatments that can keep this from getting worse and it's imperative that they are given soon. However, it's worth double-checking the syringe. Liquid meloxicam is usually given with a small 1ml syringe. The 1ml may be written as 1.0ml, which could be confused with 10. Mirtazapine does have a side effect of drowsiness or sedation in pets. It is commonly used in cats as an appetite stimulant. 30mg would be 4 times higher than I normally use, and this overdosage can cause: 57% vocalizing, 38% agitated, 23% vomiting, 21% tachycardic, 15% ataxic and 11% lethargic. The symptoms can last a little longer than 72 hours. As long as Dolly is still eating and drinking normally, I would continue to watch her. If the she is still not completely normal in a day or two, she may need a checkup with a vet.
