My cat's wound is red after the scab fell off. Is it healing normally?

Hello from across the pond! I would try and keep it clean by washing the lesion with a mild soap and water. Nothing else to keep from irritating the wound further. From the pictures you posted, it does look like there is a bit of yellow discharge coming from the wound indicating an infection. You vet may prescribe antibiotics when you see him/her soon.

All in all, I think that Tokyo's incision looks perfectly normal for being about 10 days post-op. I can see that she's likely been licking the center part a bit more than she should have been since the tissue is still slightly red. However, it's still healing nicely. Since this area is a bit red, I would try to put an e-collar (cone) or baby onesie on Tokyo for the next few days to prevent her from licking at it. The white areas that you're seeing look like normal fibrin-rich tissues, which are normal in the healing process and will fall off shortly. I hope that she continues to heal well!

If it is not painful and it is not soft and squishy (like an abscess) and he is eating/drinking and acting normally then I would suggest that you just leave it alone. Looks like he healed up just fine! Best wishes!

This looks like a wound from a cat fight or mild injury. You did the right thing removing the scab. If there was infection trapped you have cleaned it up now and the area is open to the air so it should heal quickly. You can clean these type of sores with hydrogen peroxide and if it’s in an area like this that he can’t lick you can apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it. This should heal in a few days. I think just apply the ointment twice daily until a scab forms then stop. No need to keep picking the scab! I hope this helps and I wish Max the best!

It looks like there is good granulation tissue in the wound. Leave it alone, make sure Luna does not lick the wound (e-Collar) and it should heal fine. It may or may not form a scab. If it oozes a lot of yellow or green pus (which it is not at this time), you should take her to the vet for a a recheck.
