Is it fine to feed my cat wet food every other day while dry food is for everyday?

Hello and thank you for your question! It is just fine to feed wet food every other day, and dry food every day. I do like to feed a bit of wet and dry regularly, as dry helps with their teeth, and wet helps with hydration.

No, there's no disadvantage of mixed wet and dry food. The wet food with give Mittens extra water, which is great. Just make sure the wet food doesn't dry out, and keep giving her fresh wet food. I hope this helps!

Absolutely! Cats and kittens can eat wet food (canned food) all the time and in my opinion they should. Actually I recommend that they get "ground mouse" as I call it. Best is to feed a good brand of canned food. While cats tend to get fat on dry food, especially in-door cats, this does not happen so easily with wet food. Also cats that tend to not drink enough while eating dry food, will get plenty of moisture with the canned food.

Hello. That actually does not sound too unusual. You can certainly offer her the canned twice daily ( my house kitty gets a spoonful morning & evening ), & then he is free to pick at the dry all day. MOST cats are good at self regulating & will not eat too much to become obese, but this is something to watch for as Aspen grows older. I typically recommend wet food with some dry food mixed in or given as treats, depending on Arabella's weight. Wet food helps maintain adequate hydration which can be beneficial for their kidneys and urinary system. It also has built in portion control and can help with maintaining a normal weight. I would talk to your vet about the proper amounts to feed Arabella but most cats are going to need about 200 calories per day.

Wet food has fewer calories than dry food due to it's higher moisture content, so it does take more of it to give a kitten the correct calorie amount for the day. That being said, because they are free fed dry food throughout the day, they can meet their caloric needs with this, so the amount you are feeding them of wet food is fine :-)

Good question. Cats in general get about 1 cup of food daily per 10 lbs of body weight. However check your cat food label and you will often find a feeding amount guideline right on the package. So 1 cup= 1 can (~5.5oz). So for a 10 lb cat this is roughly 1/2 can + 1/2 cup.
