Why is my cat weak, with white gums and black eye discharge?

Hello. I am sorry that Tigger does not feel well. This sounds like one of the common respiratory viruses that kitties can get. If he is eating & drinking well, the virus may run its course in a week or so. Most times, though, we do start these guys on either an antibacterial or anti-viral medication, sometimes also starting a medication to help the irritated eyes. If Tigger is feeling pretty miserable, not eating well or is in danger of becoming dehydrated, he needs to see a veterinarian for care. Hopefully he will be feeling better soon. I can't make much out from the pictures you've provided. However, I can tell you that if Tigger has multiples ticks on him and is showing signs of neurologic deficits, he should be seen by a veterinarian. There are certain tick borne diseases capable of causing clinical signs consistent with what you are describing. If you are able to get a more clear picture of the bug that is attached to Tigger, I might be able to better help with a diagnosis. If he is not drinking water either, depending on how long this has gone on for, it can cause dehydration fairly quickly. You might also try to obtain a temperature of Tigger at home rectally. Check to see if it is elevated above 102.5-103.0. If so, a fever in combination with the other symptoms certainly warrants some concern.

Oh dear! Seizing with white gums is a potentially life-threatening medical emergency. White gums indicate that either Toothless is severely anemic (low red blood cell count) or has very low blood pressure. Seizures can occur due to brain tumors, toxin exposure, epilepsy, among other issues. Walking in circles may be related to the seizure activity that she is experiencing as a post-seizure (post-ictal) phase of neurologic abnormality, or could be related to toxin exposure or other neurologic condition. Due to the severity of her clinical signs, it is not surprising that she is not eating or drinking. At this point, I strongly recommend taking Toothless to your nearest emergency veterinarian immediately for evaluation and diagnostic testing so that appropriate treatment can be started. Loss of appetite and lethargy can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. White gums are a sign of anemia, and in a cat Tommy's age, kidney disease is common. Signs of it include excessive drinking and urination, but that can also be caused by diabetes or hyperthyroidism. From your description, it doesn't sound like he's in good shape at the moment, and I strong encourage an immediate vet visit for him. It's not fair to leave him in this condition, and he needs to be seen by a vet to determine if his symptoms can be treated. Please take him into a vet now.

BUN, Amylase, magnesium and CPK all can become altered with renal impairment. The weight loss may be due to muscle wastage due to chronic renal disease or something else may be going on. I would consider having Tigger's urine specific gravity checked and also send out an SDMA test to see if the kidney's are the main problem. At 14.5 years of age, renal disease would be high on my list of causes of these symptoms. Other problems such as cancer and inflammatory diseases may be the cause of the symptoms as well. I would recommend having your vet pursue additional testing to get more of a definitive answer on whether or not the kidneys are impaired and if not, coming up with further recommendations on diagnostics and treatment.
